Is USPS killing anyone else's delivery stats?

Since the first of the year, USPS service levels have been dropping with no end in sight.  I ask why and all I get is "we're short on carriers", "we don't have enough vehicles", "we're training new staff", and the infamous "I don't know".

In the past 6 weeks, we have not had 5-day pickup service to our retail store.  The mail that was finally picked up today has been sitting since last Thursday (6/16 to 6/22).  And I suspect today will be the only pickup we have for the week... 😞  Weekends are just gone - haven't had a Saturday pickup in months, even before the "cost saving" service reductions went into effect.

My day job ships a couple hundred orders a week.  We spend thousands on USPS postage every month.  Everything is bagged cleanly and with clear thermal labels.  And this is the service we get?  Really?

I'm beginning to think the issue with eBay sales is not anything usually... it's buyers not coming back after USPS mucks up our deliveries... and the competition (Amazon) gets things delivered in 1-3 days.  I've even had to switch much of my online purchasing to Amazon -- when I buy something, it's because I need it, not because I want to wait until I've forgotten why I needed it for it to be delivered.

I apologize if I've offended or irritated or annoyed anyone.  It's getting nuts and the 100+ temps in Memphis are not helping.  Maybe I should just retire and learn how to whittle.....

No problems in our little PA town........  Hasn't Memphis "been" having alot of USPS problems?  Seems like people have been griping for several years about stuff being "stuck" in their hub.

All of my mail goes through Memphis - I live near Tupelo.  Maybe I'm just lucky, but with the exception of one package that was lost somewhere in one of the Memphis hubs (I was the buyer, btw) I've not had any issues at all.  Our mail may go through a totally separate distribution center, I'm not really sure.

No. But they seem a tad slower as of late. Usually no more than an extra day or two though.

Also had a package hit Memphis a week ago (maybe a little over a week) and it finally made it to a city in Mississippi today that was 20 or 30 miles away.

Pick ups I schedule have usually been good though.

@rosachs

I hate the PO sorting center in Memphis.  For well over a year, it has been the bane of my shipping woes.

We can ship Ohio to West Coast in 3 days - most areas, 2 days - TX is often 3.  But when I ship to FL and the dang package seems to want to go thru Memphis........not good.  Sits and sits and sits.........makes great time TO Memphis..........from there, not so much.  ymmv

You buy something and your Summary tells you you should expect delivery in about three days. You are familiar with USPS, and you know that is just ebay lying again. You wait. In three days the time span has changed from three to 5 to 7 days. In five days, the time span changes to the next Wednesday after 7 days.

I have not dinged sellers over this, but I may as well start. Maybe they can get something done? harrumph.

Just the other way around for me.

I've had nothing buy good luck and good experiences with the USPS.

Just the other day i purchased something on ebay on the 18th coming from Phoenix, AZ.

It was in my mailbox in Hawaii 2 days later on the 20th (federal holiday).

My local post office for some reason will deliver packages only (no mail delivery, no pick ups)  on Sundays and federal holidays.

99 percent good but there seem to be hot spots around the country with problems.

I take my packages everyday(sometimes twice) to the post office because it's one less step for something to go wrong if the carrier were to pick it up from me. 99.9% positive results. 1,000 packages per month with maybe 1 delay issue every month.

For the most part the post office has helped me immensely these past 2 years under incredible pressure.

Suddenly, the post office was responsible for the national elections.

Suddenly, people are having their toilet paper delivered to them.

Suddenly they have angry customers i front of them all the time being forced to put a diaper over their face.

Zero issues, if anything they are delivering faster than last year.

I’ve found that smaller packages have more issues.  They are easy delayed.  Just my experience.  You sell very small items - I expect that these are in small envelopes, and might not even be tracked.

USPS only provides an Estimated delivery time.   Priority Express  offer  next day service at a premium price and if it is not delivered within the  time frame the shipper is refunded (the shipper has to claim) provided  the package is scanned in by  a given time (3 PM ? I believe) - placed in a drop box by that time don't count.

Hello,

I would place a complaint with USPS. The USPS Postmaster has to respond in 24 hours of receving the complaint. The complaint is like negative feedback and the USPS takes compliants very seriously when it is a issue such as yours. If the non-pickup continues , I would place a complaint each time they fail to pickup your packages and escalate the complaint each time the non pickup occurs. I also make sure that at xmas time I give my postal carrier a nice gift.
