Insertion Fee for Revising

Ebay has started charging me insertions fee whenever I revise an existing listing. I usually list items at a slightly higher price and lower it a little each month. I don't understand why this has just started happening now and how to get around it?!?

I chatted with someone at customer service. They said it was a mistake and the fees would be credited. They were never credited. They sent me a message asking me for feedback about the customer service experience. I gave negative feedback and explained the problem. The fees have still not been credited.

Re: Insertion Fee for Revising

Same happened to me. I put a report in for the ebay supervisor to take a look at the added charges. Also, all the shipping times were changed from 2 day to one day shipping. I had to manualy update each listing back to 2 days. It had to be a software update issue.

Were you charged for each revision you made to change the shipping times to two days?

Re: Insertion Fee for Revising

I noticed that I'm now being charged to revise a listing.  I corrected an error in the listing, and I was charged $0.35.  The charge went through.

I just attempted to revise another and saw that I would be charged for that revision too!!  So I cancelled the revision. What the heck EBay??   Having very low sales (down 46% from last qtr.) and now begin charged for EVERYTHING.

13 years doing this.  Very frustrating. Maybe time to quit this platform.......

Yes I am showing that I owe them $1.75 showing both in my app and on website.

How do I report to get a ticket number? I did report it as a tech issue? Are you saying I need to talk to someone?

Yes, @knnjamison , you and @0769gjc should both contact customer service (as well as anyone else affected).  I personally prefer the chat options, and you’ll have a transcript of the conversation to save that way.

You can click this link to chat with an agent, or request a callback if that's offered:

Or you can contact eBay customer service via Facebook, X, or Instagram by sending a private message (don't post publicly on these pages):

Re: Insertion Fee for Revising

I as well have had this happen to me ever since the rollover, Aug 1st. I have approx 253 active listings. Making a change to several listing descriptions caused +0.35 "insertion fee" charge for each listing. My account was indeed actually charged. I used the chat feature today and spoke with an agent who refunded my account immediately which I verified. They didn't offer an explanation but said that it's a "mistake" which should not be happening when only editing descriptions. Said if it continues to happen to use the chat again. I've tried another edit after this and its still trying to charge the 0.35 insertion fee. PIA for real!

Re: Insertion Fee for Revising

I just revised an item, changed it from calculated shipping to free shipping, adjusted the price to compensate, and no charges were asked for.

You can review what listings have been allocated for the new period here:

https://www.ebay.com/sh/ovw

Look for the Promotional Offers panel.

Click the first number (the number five in my example above) and it will give you a list of all the related item numbers.

Review those against those you got charged again on to see if they are showing there.

This shows how many of my listings have renewed or been activated this month so far (as an example):

It should be noted, the listing I revised does not show up here as it has not been renewed yet for this promotional period (Aug).

Also review the page here for details on the fees in case there is a reason for the fee in some of your cases:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/selling-fees?id=4822#free

Specifics on zero-insertion fees:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/listing-tips/free-listings?id=4163

Some categories are excluded from the zero-insertion as well.

@0769gjc

If you don't feel you are getting anywhere with the Bot, type in Agent to the chat and it will get you to a real person.

This is NOT a site wide problem.  IDK why certain sellers are having the issue, but it isn't all sellers.

Re: Insertion Fee for Revising

Well its large enough that a lot of sellers are posting about it.  So I consider that as a reason for my statement. There may be factors specific to those sellers that we aren't aware of, but it can't  be a coincidence that several have started talking about it all at once.

@twobigfeet  I've been seeing quite a few reports of this happening over on the UK community as well, so my guess is it may be a technical issue.

devon@ebay  elizabeth@ebay  kyle@ebay  are there any current tickets open for this?

Hey @valueaddedresource! I do not see any open tickets for what OP is describing. I also echo what @wastingtime101 said and to double check the Payments page to verify  that they are actually being charged.

devon@ebay  can you confirm if there is now an open ticket for this issue?
