This is a new one or at least it's been a long long time since I've seen it. I would say it's a chargeback but It looks like paypal initiated it although I could be wrong. What does it mean? My item shows as delivered so that's good I guess

Was it an item that was higher value than what you typically sell? If the activity seems "unusual" paypal can put a hold while they verify.

Or if PayPal is worried a buyer's account was compromised, they may put a hold while they investigate.

Bottom line is you won't know unless you call PayPal to ask.

No it was $13. I checked and in my last 1124 transactions I've had ZERO defects. No it ain't me. This is strange

Paypal has been doing this. They did it to me as well and I guess will keep on. I sell high dollar high end items and have since I began on ebay in 1998. Never experienced a paypal hold of any kind. Excellent track record on ebay and paypal.

Out of nowhere..........the paypal holds. Something's up for paypal to start doing this or they've got a bot flagging accounts right and left.

Sounds like they need to go in and review the parameters set

.......OR........A Certian entity is tired of dealing with all the lame chargebacks and problems associated with another certain entitiy and all the scams.............. since they've branched out in a HUGE way to other venues.

From your description it sounds like the buyer initiated a chargeback with their credit card company. When that happens paypal puts a hold on the sellers funds while they decide how to handle the chargeback. I've had it happen once.

In my case when I clicked the on the hold "details" they had several options to provide extra information for my side of the "case". I provided the tracking number for proof of delivery. I also emailed the buyer on ebay asking them why they charged back when we have a return policy on ebay and would have refunded them had they contacted me to return the product.

I then pasted that email as further "proof" to paypal that I was a good seller willing to work with the buyer to solve disputes.

In my case paypal closed the case in my favor, releasing the funds again to me.

I think the buyer was a scammer actually. I actually found a website that had some info about them and the person seemed like a real shady character. I think in my case paypal took a loss - since fighting chargebacks with credit card companies is pretty difficult from my own experience with a merchant account.

I think they just realized I was a good seller being scammed and agreed to eat it, since my account was in good standing and I didn't have a history of chargebacks.

So my advice, post the tracking information, and show paypal that your a good seller willing to work to solve all disputes, and there is a chance they will not make you eat the chargeback.

You are not giving many details, but check what tiberius says.

I have not had a PP hold in years, but last month they slapped a hold on me.

I had an item listed for 450.00 and a guy wanted to buy it, but we needed to work out some details.

I jacked the price to a grand, so it would not sell, as we worked it out.

We agree on a price of 400.00 and are both happy..

PP slaps a hold on my funds, what the heck....

I call PP and the gal says, the bots put a hold on me, no human ever looked at it... it was the bots doing.

And there was nothing they could do, When the bots make a decision, it is in stone.

Seems my changing the price, caught the bots attention.

So now any sale over 250.00 has a hold, but under that I get my funds instant.

But your 13 buck sale.... that is just odd, charge back ??????

I had something similar happen to me today.

Buyer with 0 feedback and new to ebay ordered a 650$ item (sold few of them in last few weeks) so it is not overpriced.

Shipped it today noon (dropped off at fedex) and in minutes got a mail from paypal not to ship as the transaction could be unauthorized. And exactly 2 minutes later one more email - Problem resolved and my funds should be available.

Called Paypal and asked them what is really happening and the seller specialist confirmed that their system flagged it and it is a potential issue. Since I shipped from ebay to exact address and had signature confirmation, he said I should be covered under Seller Protection and not to worry about it.

I asked him if I should ask Fedex to return the package to me and he asked not to bother. At that time the amount was in my account. So he pointed out the same and said either way I dont have any problem.

3 hours later there is a temporary hold on the transaction and funds are not available.

I had the Paypal call recorded hopefully will help in case someone denies in future.
