Info about Spring update on ecommercebytes

Go and read for yourslf. I know that it is early and we might be surprised if it turns out okay, but from EVERYHING one reads, it wil be a gigantic gain for the  Bonanza marketplace and the downfall of Ebay. People want and can afford used items. Why buy brand new items at ridiculous store prices, especially for children who immediately outgrow them?  We are not Amazon and Ebay can never offer the prime shipping deal Amazon does. I could smell the beginning problem when I heard the Ebay chairman tell Trump that shipping takes 2 days to arrive. Dreamland is what I call it. The important thing to me is if the worst is stated will the store owners be allowed to end their yearly subscriptions without a BIG penalty or will they use it unfairly as a big revenue gain. Good luck to all - the buyers and sellers.

Will never work because one thing they're NOT - is a "retailer" (much as they may like to think all the inventory on here is theirs)

Re: Info about Spring update on ecommercebytes

Well I read an article here on the Ebay community forum a few days ago that addressed that issue when Mr Donahue was CEO. It basically said that Ebay had lost a lot of their sellers becuase of the disruptIon he created back then and did not work because yes, he had no control over the merchandise.

I didn't read very far into this article, but if anyone knows I'd love to hear an answer... is this what Amazon does? Where I type something in the search bar and only get a couple of items showing, then I have to really dig & figure out how to find ALL the items that are actually for sale?

If that's so, that's the exact reason I do NOT shop on Amazon, ever.  HATE the search.  And in reality, what would simplifiy the search on eBay is just leaving it the same long enough for buyers to figure it out.  We can figure out and adapt to consistency, it's the ever changing system that is complicated & confusing, NOT the number of actual listings, or the way we have to search.

What's funny is that recenty happended to me and I did not even realize it ... I searched for an item, only got a couple returned and did not like the choices ... I had first tried eBay but only got two items returned and neither Seller impressed me ... too many neg FBs for my liking and one was not in the US and I suspect the other was probably a dropshipper from China.  So I wound up stopping at a Best Buy and purchased one ... we're talking a muilti-tip AC Adapter ... less then 20 bucks.

Yeah as I had stated in a previous thread about this I feel like I already saw a test version of this.

I was was looking for wedding dresses in my size it only returned four listings that had pictures with the title under them.  So like Catalogue format but I always search list format so I was already confused.  At the top it had were I could narrow it down by style, size, etc.  I narrowed it down by style and size and got three new listings and one the same.   The three new listings would have fallen under my previous search but they didn't appear until I narrowed it down more.  I got frustrated with the search and considered it not worth it.  I couldn't find a way to see all the dresses

Over the weekend I searched again and got the normal search with hundreds of dresses turning up in my search.  I didn't find anything I wanted to still but at least I got to look at my options

It doesn't work like that in sports cards. It is always a race to the bottom to get a sale.

Thanks for that reply ... that's ridiculus about the search return you got and its exactly what Buyers and Sellers are complaining about.  I am mainly a Seller but unfortunately, we need Buyers like you to make noise and complain about short lists being returned in Search ... Seller's really have little voice on eBay even though WE know what Buyer's want ... choices and NOT just low price driven choices.

I think people are taking this Drama blog out of context on several levels. Wenig wants people to be able to compete with other websites offering the same things and compete with better prices to win their business. At some point everyone is going to have some BOTTOM LINE on how low they can go and sell things without going under. Look at this simply without DRAAAAAMA.  I did not read ANYTHING in that drama blog that said used/refurbished blah blah were being eliminated from the website--Where are people even going with that.

I would also like to know why these questions were not addressed in the weekly chat.  Sellers have so many questions, I skimmed through the thread but didn't see the answers.

They need to address the small seller, and people that sell new items that may have small issues.  I buy clothes wholesale, most new with tags. In every lot I will have some items that do not have tags, missing button, seam rip, stain, etc...  Will I be able to sell here, and have my items seen?

When it was said the devils in the details, I think that meant they want to get from point A to point B but don't have a road map yet. Aka they really don't know the ramifications of cataloging used items.  It was said scrolling listing will be gone, pretty much that will kill used.  That's a lot of money to throw away away.

If this indeed goes the way as described the only saving grace for used & vintage items is Buyers searching for specific items AND Sellers having a good number of followers who check their items on a regular basis.  eBay will loose Buyers for sure and they just can't see or are unwilling to accept that fact.

Re: Info about Spring update on ecommercebytes

I have been selling items on eBay for only a year. It was getting better and better every month. In January it slowed down some And this mont it was even worse.

i did not sell a thing for 6 days and then on Sunday I sold 3 item in a hour and only 1 item since. That 3 items all at once with nothing for 6 days and then nothing since made me start listing my items on 2 other sites. I don’t care where my items sale I just want them to sale. It’s a 2 way street with every site, they are there for there best interest and we are there for our best interest. All I have to say is who wants my fees the most?

I want ebay to sway me away from using the other sites all together because I have been a buyer here since the beginning.

I am very anxious to see how the others play out competing against the big bad eBay

I will honestly big shocked if either or the both combined will stand up against eBay.

3 or 4 months should tell me.

but in 4 days the one site is keeping up with what eBay has done for me and for today they are all equal.

Re: Info about Spring update on ecommercebytes

You're suggesting they're going to subsidize sellers to meet Amazon and Walmart prices?  I don't think so.

**************************************************************************************************

But they did propose subsidizing Ebay sellers recently.  Picking up the difference when a seller accepts a Best Offer on an item.
