The item sold on ebay for $550, without "Make an Offer", but the deposited amount at payout was $68.00. I contacted support and they said I offered an 88% discount, which i did not do, and there is no record of any such offer.
Has anyone else had an issue like this?

That explains it @gurlcat and @lacemaker3 .
Since the items were on sale, the SIO had to be a minimum % off the sale price. And confusion came in because the offer window showed gurlcat's non-markdown price.
You can cancel my request for assistance elizabeth@ebay - mystery solved on why the math appeared to be so off. But if you wouldn't mind escalating feedback that it would help in the offer window to see the original price with a strikethrough followed by the markdown price so the seller can see the current price & the fact that it's on markdown, that would be helpful.

Well POOOOOP!! My theory about the reply email does NOT work, here's why.
In post #61 the OP said this:
But it's still kind of weird. -The buyer let 45 out of 48 hours go by before snapping up an offer for a nearly-free generator? And who knows if there were any other watchers at the time!

@gurlcat wrote:So, here's the thing I keep wondering about, the only way I can think of that the OP could have accidentally sent an offer. Way back on page 1 he made this post to clarify the timeline of events. What I THOUGHT I understood was that the way he found out the item sold was from an email from the buyer, asking him for a meeting place so they could pick up the item (which had already sold) ..... then only later did the OP realize it had sold for so little money, and he had already met with the guy and handed over the generator.
But now I realize, there is no entry in this timeline about when he replied to the buyer and what he replied to them. And note, there is a 16-minute gap between the buyer's email and the subsequent emails from Ebay saying congrats your item sold. -Do yall get what I'm wondering? Is it possible that the buyer was not yet actually the buyer when they wrote their email. What if they were just considering buying, and part of their consideration was where they would have to go (maybe even arrange a truck) to pick up this big heavy object. So .... what if the OP clicked the most visible button to reply to them, not noticing that it said 'Make Offer' and the location involved numbers? I still don't see how that would be possible unless he typed while driving or something, like not looking at the screen and realizing there was a dollar sign in the box, never mind no way to enter alphabetical text .... but anyway it's the closest I can think of to how he could have accidentally sent an offer.
Yes. I noticed that immediately when OP posted it & I believed then & now, that when initially contacted by the buyer, the item was NOT sold yet.
Could he have sent an offer accidentally via one of the response links? Sure. Like I said ther are many ways to accomplish the same thing on Ebay based on different screens & different navigations to those screens. Will the seller remember a week later, exactly what screens he used & which navigation he used? Doubtful. It's about 99% chance that he did send the offer. I don't think we'll ever know exactly how for a variety of reasons.

So, not only was the offer sent 45 hours before the buyer accepted it, but if we take the OP's word on this, from message #84:
I wish he had clarified how he knows he wasn't online at that time. LOL this is really starting to feel like a murder investigation, or maybe I just watch too much true crime TV. But if he was at work and wouldn't dare play around at his phone on the job, or he's a day sleeper so he would have been asleep at 11:41 Eastern, or maybe even something more verifiable, that would be helpful. I suppose there's some way to tell from his device's internet/app history, but I sure wouldn't know how to find that.

Random thoughts from @robots-r-us
I will make addendum with more information within the hour.
Based on the expertise available on this forum, I consider myself a novice, at best, when it comes sales on eBay.
I neither sent an offer nor initiated an automated feature to provide an offer.
I work nights, and at the time the offer was sent, 14:45, I was still in bed and sound asleep.
I had no communication with buyer prior to the offer being sent.
I have never used seller generated offers. Thanks to this forum, I only just learned where this capability was located. I also learned it is questionable and NOT user friendly.
The buyer is cooperating to help get this resolved.
I have contacted elizabeth@ebay directly with specific requests, which I will share with group in my next post.

Thanks for coming back. Just to clarify though, in message #61 where you posted the buyer's screenshot, you said that offer was tendered at 11:41 Eastern -that would mean almost noon daytime, not night. 11:41 at night would be 23:41.

That's great the buyer is working with you.
Looking forward to hearing more about what you and Elizabeth uncovered.

Yeah, that's exactly why I was testing to see whether or not it was possible to accidentally enable the "Send automatic offers" feature without sending an initial offer to a watcher. From that, it SOUNDS like it could have been an automatic offer to a new watcher, but it's impossible to enable that feature without manually sending out at least one offer.

Message #61 regarding when the offer was sent is incorrect.
"It was generated two days earlier at 11:41 EST, about 45 hours before it was purchased:"
It should have read .....13:41 PDT, about 46 hours before it was purchased.
I verified the timeline that was posted in #20 to ensure no further errors.

The following was sent to elizabeth@ebay via communitysubscriptions@ebay.com.
I share it with the group with the hopes of finding any errors or omissions.
HI Elizabeth,
The discussion thread on the forum has pretty-well scrutinized my predicament, and it appears the ball is now in your court. Here is what I know for sure:
Will you be able to shed some light on this matter from a more technical standpoint? Example; By examining network traffic history, can eBay explain how the buyer received an email offer that I did not send?
Further, it seems to me eBay does not take Seller generated offers seriously enough to protect those of us with less selling experience. As such, please have eBay answer the following questions and then consider revising its approach to include more complete communications:
Thanks in advance for you assistance in this matter.

So that would have been 1:41 PM Pacific -> 4:41 Eastern (I don't know what zone you live in), suffice it to say afternoon to late afternoon. Is it no longer possible to say you definitely were not online or on ebay at that date/time?

I say emphatically that i was not online or on ebay at that time, either by phone, laptop or tablet. 14:29 (2:29 PM) is when i received the email requesting location information. I was asleep at that time and did not open any of the emails mentioned above for at least a half hour or more.

I found the same.
