If you are now stuck with the new unified listing tool.....

Looks like another batch of sellers have now lost their ability to switch back to the classic listing tool and must use the new unified mobile app inspired listing tool.

If you are one of them - try it and then report back here and also send the feedback after every listing!

You will find that it is very cumbersome and takes 3x longer to list everything because it forces you to click 3-5x more than the classic tool did.   Since they are  moving forward with its release to more sellers, they must not believe that our feedback is valid and they want more users to chime in.   We just need a listing tool that is optimized for a desktop and does not add 10 minutes to each listing because of hiding all the features in popup boxes and design flaws like having to click 3x to add a brand instead of 1 click.

Just try it and let us know please so we can get more movement from the design team to get us back to a workable, usable listing tool.

I just used the classic tool on my 2nd account and was amazed at how wonderful it was to use- I had nearly forgot how simple and intuitive and progressive the actual workflow was- effortless- just click once in the box and type and move on. Everything is plainly shown on one page with small dropdowns when necessary.

Re: If you are now stuck with the new unified listing tool.....

I click 'SELL' and it takes me to my selling page. I can't even 'sell' something different (have to click an item on the left and 'sell something similar'?

Is it the 'listing template' I need to click?

Re: If you are now stuck with the new unified listing tool.....

I tried the "new" tool a few months ago, for 1 week. I figured I'd give it a try before I was forced in to using it with no notice.

I generally do a "sell similar". On very simple listings, with very few changes needed, the new tool worked OK. When more involved changes were needed, the new tool is horrible. Too much useless clicking around. too hard to find things, too hard to use, the background cleanup doesn't work. I switched back to the excellent classic tool after one week.

The thing I like least about selling on Bay is listing items.  The new tool makes listing far, far harder, makes me dread the thought of listing new items.

I've left hundreds of critical reviews by clicking on the link in the upper right hand corner of the list similar page. Every survey I get from eBay, usually 4-6 per month, turns in to a negative review of the new tool, regardless of the subject eBay wants my opinion on. I did one of those this morning.

No, I don't think doing this will have any effect. I've been around long enough to know that eBay could care less.

I can't express how much I miss Turbo Lister.......

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

Under listings in your my ebay page you go to create listing:  to find the listing tool.

If you got the new one well it will take some time to get through it.

Edited to add You do bring up a problem that should be looked into.

Re: If you are now stuck with the new unified listing tool.....

@siamjane8I agree. I do keep sending feedback. There have been too many "glitches" where ebay changes a default, removes photos, changes to Free Shipping, etc. On the classic view, I can immediately check all fields as I look over my listing. In the new listing tool, I can edit some fields from the listing page, but have to Click Edit All Fields so I can then check the pop-up box so I can be sure all the details of my listing are accurate.

It might just be me, but whenever I try to use the Remove background tool, it looks unnatural. At first I was happy, thinking the tool would automatically remove backgrounds (like shadows or a corner with something in it.

I do like the ability to upload pics directly from my phone, but would gladly give that up to be able to use classic listing view.

Re: If you are now stuck with the new unified listing tool.....

I don't know why they thought adding all the pop ups was a good idea?

I use a PC to list and it's a PITA.

I don't use a phone or app to list, but I don't see how this is better for them?

I won't be using videos so let us keep the other listing tools.

Have A Great Day.

Re: If you are now stuck with the new unified listing tool.....

To address the posts above- I do believe that they are listening because they have already made quite a few changes to the tool to make it more like the classic tool. Its just not enough and not fast enough.  We NEED more feedback to light a fire under them because this new tool is absolutely hindering everyone from adding new listings.  I am confident that 99% of the feedback is consistently against the mobile design and all the popups and hidden toggles and extra clicks to do everything- just absolute **bleep**-poor web design. The fact that many many more sellers than they thought use a desktop to list was lost on the design team.   By trying to "unify" ( completely unnecessarily I might add) the listing tool - it just made the experience 100% worse for all computer users.

Absolutely EVERYONE who tries the tool- switches back because its so bad.... until ebay removes the option- then they come here.    What more feedback do you need.   If something is better, yo udo not need to force people to use it.

Its not just one or two oversights- the tool is just wrong in almost everyway- even the picture editor rotates the wrong way! lol- instead of keeping it the universal industry standard - it rotates opposite now so most of your quick 90 degree flips now take 3 extra clicks to rotate it 270 degrees!! its almost comical

actually.

I'm not trying to be a jerk but at some point enough is enough and people need to be held accountable for their work.   Hopefully the combination of bad feedback and negative reviews, and decrease in new listings gets noticed and interpreted correctly by the right person who can get effective change and results.   This tool is hindering ebay growth and new GMV-------- we are not just complaining for complaints sake- this tool is horrible- stop stubbornly holding on to a bad idea and lets get back to making ebay work for sellers.

Re: If you are now stuck with the new unified listing tool.....

Be aware that they seem to be rolling out different versions.

This ID has the (I'm assuming) newer version, which even though I dislike it have been able to actually use. even though everything takes longer.

My other ID just got dumped into it but it is an absolutely horrific 'experience' and I'm guessing is the first earlier version going by what posts I've read. The UPC field is hidden under IS then show more and there it is right at the bottom. Editing photos is beyond laughable as the thumbnail that comes up is so tiny you can't even tell what it is let alone edit it. I'm so disgusted with this abomination.

The classioc tool was easy to use, relatively intuitive and super fast to list.

It's almost as if they want us to list less.

@toomuchstuffagain35

Thats very interesting! why on earth would they be "improving" the crappy first version but still pushing it out to new users?  Nothing surprises me about ebay though. Maybe they are doing a control study?   Bad is bad. the new tool is just bad.

I'm concerned that the company prides itself on be the best at being "woke" so the underlying atmosphere is to cater to the 0.00003% of the population instead of making it work for the 99.00007% that actually use the site to buy and sell.

To design this tool to "look" better at the expense of making it easy and efficient to actually use- says allot about where they are coming from.   Then to ignore the feedback of the real people using the tool just shows why the stock is within $4 of the 2017 price- the covid bump is over and the true value of the company has shown again.  Only this time all that bumper crop of profit was squandered on stock buybacks and useless tools that discourage listing.     The company cant grow in value if the customers cant stand using the site!

Keep sending feedback- its all we can do

Re: If you are now stuck with the new unified listing tool.....

eBay sent me a survey about how I liked the listing process.  I said I like it because I'm using the old listing tool,  please do NOT force me to use the new one because of the great difficulty it entails.

Lol- when I click on "sell" from the seller hub- it links to my active listings page instead of the listing form like it used to......

Nothing happen after they optimized the seller hub page for phone use over desktop users despite the countless criticisms from real sellers as opposed to the young non-sellers who Ebay hires for their B-team.

Re: If you are now stuck with the new unified listing tool.....

i agree 100%, popups are never a good idea

this new tool IS a PITA

people who  use a phone to list do not use a computer and vise-versa so this unified tool only aggravates all listers and makes the listing process worse for all involved

video = more time to list for buyers who wont even take the time to read a description or look at all pics

background removal tool makes listings look cheap and counterfeit like a Chinese knockoff copy of the original and a stock photo- huge no-no for an ebay seller- quality and genuine vintage is the main reason shop here- stock photo generic consumables are purchased at Amazon- different market, different needs

Re: If you are now stuck with the new unified listing tool.....

@mikhirs

I do the same- not sure if it helps but ebay reps say that they have a new system in place so that feedback now goes directly to the correct department instead of a giant "pool" of feedback (read: trashcan)

I do not see how thaey can ignore the feedback much longer..... what is the point in alienating the very people who must use it. I just do not ge teh end game to redesigning a tool and making it worse in every way.    If it truly was just to be able to add video and background tool then I am flabbergasted- what a horrible tradeoff- 2 unnecessary tools at the expense of being able to list new items with any efficiency.

Again- not trying to single out anyone- there are real people with families and lives and this is their job.  They are just trying to do what they are asked from a corporation that says "do this".   But where is the adult in the room that greenlighted this idea? who is responsible for NOT understanding the obvious effects of ignoring 25 years worth of industry standard and improvements and then throwing it all out the window for a pared down phone app?   Or was that Harry Temkin that no mysteriously no longer works at ebay?   I do not know the guy at all but it seemed like this was his brainchild and if he is gone of his own accord or ebay's because of this..... why is ebay doubling down on the bad idea?

@siamjane8

>must use the new unified mobile app inspired listing tool.

You can try this,

https://www.ebay.com/mys/overview

The links to various selling pages are on the left side under "Selling". I open each page (Sold, Active, Scheduled, etc.) in a new tab and just navigate between tabs. Works for me. Try it. You might like it.

BTW, I haven't used an eBay listing page in years. I just bring up a closed or current listing and use "Sell similar", editing the item to match the parameters of the new listing. No fiddling with constantly-changing eBay listing pages. The listing also gets a new item number and the "New listing" tag when posted. HTH.
