Hi! my question is concerning an item that was purchased on 7/24/22. I shipped it out on the 25th and the tracking showed it should be delivered on the 28th. On the 28th I saw that it was being returned to me for the insufficient address of the buyer. Since then I have not heard anything else. Shows it's still in the destination city. I have received payment from ebay , so does that mean the buyer actually got the item or could it still be in limbo? I'm new to selling so I have a lot to learn. Thanks for any help I can get.

I've had this happen several times.. Usually, most 100% of the time when this happens, the address is correct, but the buyer forgot to include their apt # on the address, so the post office has no destination to deliver to.. I'm probably certain this is what has happened here..

You will just have to watch the tracking to see if it ultimately gets delivered or returned, but it does sound like it on its way back to you. If it was the buyer's error you are allowed to invoice for the cost of reshipping the item. If it was your error, then you pay to reship it.

When you shipped it, did you not use the address provided to you by eBay as the shipping address?

At least you didn't do what someone here did - no one here will take credit.
As I doubt anyone here searched for, I don't know - 'shoehorn with arm pit hair soup' in chinese characters and copy/pasted them in - It was the address that ebay pre-filled. Whoever printed the label never looked or noticed. The person who trimmed and taped the label never noticed.
Best part - it was mailed on 6-12-2018 and returned on 2-22-22. Did it ever leave the country? Who knows. Where has it been all these years? Same answer.

I agree with most of this, but it's not 100% the reason.
Sometimes the suite/apt # can be smudged or a crucial part of the label came off, so it's not ALWAYS the buyer's fault.

One thing that could help on future orders to prevent an address smudge, is clear tape over the address section of the label.
Of course it wont help if customs or a post office places their own label over part of your address label, which did happen to a package of mine. That can occur as well. Frustrating, hearing your issue makes me think of that all over again.

Yes, I purchased the eBay label.
