INR - Tracking shows delivered

I had a buyer open an INR for an item that tracking shows was delivered to their mailbox. Before they opened the case, they messaged me saying they hadn't received it and I walked them through next steps, check with neighbors, contact their local post office, talk to mail carrier, open a missing mail search etc. Today the buyer opened a case, I uploaded tracking showing it was delivered, and contacted eBay to close the case in my favor. I spoke to two different customer service agents, both of whom told me they could not step in to close the case until 3 business days have passed since the case was opened. Is this true? In the past I've simply called same day, they've reviewed tracking, and closed the case in minutes. I normally would keep calling back until I could get the case closed, but two different agents said that there is no option for them to close the case before the 3 days are up. Is this a new process or are they mistaken?

What they are saying is true. I dunno the reason why. It probably is a stupid one too. But the reps won't close it out for you before the business days pass.

Re: INR - Tracking shows delivered

As long as your tracking is uploaded showing the item was received by the buyer and you've waited the three days eBay will find in your favor. Just have to wait. Calling them won't speed it up any.

Re: INR - Tracking shows delivered

As long as you entered the tracking number & the tracking number shows a delivery scan, then you're all set. Unfortunately, you do have to wait a few days for the case to be reviewed and closed out.

Hang in there!

Re: INR - Tracking shows delivered

The only reason I can think of for Ebay doing this is to give the buyer time to find the item if it was mis-delivered and to close the case themselves.

OR

I'm thinking it might be due to the ridiculous increase in fake tracking numbers being used.  I see posts where the buyer gets a tracking number that says delivered before the item was even purchased, or the delivery to a different address in the same zip code scams.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Re: INR - Tracking shows delivered

Good to know. I've only had this happen a few times over the years, and in the past calling got the case closed immediately, but it appears that's no longer an option. I've already re-uploaded tracking (why eBay doesn't just use the tracking information from the original order is beyond me!) so I'll just wait.
