Just wondering...there has been posts regarding the decisions, policies and path Ebay has taken.
So have at it. If YOU were in charge of Ebay, what would YOU do?

Seems you would be good if you were in charge...you have already doubled production, and in a holiday vein to boot!

Ebay would become vintage/pre-owned items ONLY.
This is fun!
I'll think of more later, I'm sure...

- Every single seller of new items would be given their thirty day notice. On day 31 they are GONE.
- Absolutely no dropshipping.
- Seller location limited to US and Canada ONLY.
- Search would revert back to "what you type in is what we show you, not what we think you want to see".
- Standard listing format with set personalization options for every listing - no more stupid 1990s flashy templates and scrolling galleries.
- Listing packages available - 50 free, 250 for $5, 500 for $10, 1000 for $15. Listings above 1k are 25 cents each.
- Flat 7% FVF on total (item plus shipping) for all listings no matter the category.
- Standard 14 day buyer paid return policies for every listing.
- 3% FVF discount for listings with 14 day seller paid returns.
- 3% FVF increase for listings with no returns.
- Buyer limitations as to returns, capped at 5%. Exceed 5% and you are gone (barring extenuating circumstances), banned by name, address, IP and payment info.
- Profit sharing for professional sellers who adhere to rigorous seller standards.
- Manditory new seller training, with new sellers subject to tiered dollar and listing limits, with full access after 100 successful transactions.
- Seller feedback to be removed and replaced with an automated transaction count
- Feedback completely removed for buyers.
This is fun!
I'll think of more later, I'm sure...
I'm glad you think this is fun! A big glass of Southern Sweet tea to you!

Having experiences where I was considering an item, only to find the same item much less expensive that was never shown to me initially, and having found listings under a different timed search that were never there initially, I understand.

You're right. There HAVE been posts regarding the decisions, policies and path eBay has taken.
What would I do? Resign and apply for a job at Amazon.
It looks like Amazon isn't doing so hot these days either. I see sellers over there constantly complaining about how slow it is, some say they're coming here where it's better!
I didn't see any headlines about how wonderful their Prime Day was, so I guess it wasn't that great. I did recently see something about how they are expecting a slow Chistmas season.
Their stock has dropped quite a bit too.

It has been reported by those who frequent the Amazon Boards that the problems there are much the same as on Ebay, if not worse. Some with experience in both places say Amazon is much harder to sell on. And Ebay just hit them with a law suit for using Ebay's own messaging system to try to poach Ebay sellers.
Ebay has reported that they expect a slow Q4.
Other sites have sprung up and are enjoying popularity. There are many places for buyers to spend their money. Perhaps some categories that have seen lower sales are not only due to over saturated categories but due to these other sites, such as one that is entirely devoted to clothing.

Just read a great article about Amazon in The Sun (liberal magazine). It mentions AZ, Google and Facebook, as monopolies that are endangering on-line buying in much the same way that Wal*Mart has been destroying B & M shopping, particularly small towns downtowns and Mom & Pops. There is no mention anywhere in the article about eBay. As if it is insignificant.
that's sad.

It is sad...I used to sell here too, before 2008 and then for a bit a year or two ago. It was GREAT in the beginning, sitting in my jammies watching the bids roll in. Then the no pays started in...arghhhh. Then I went to other sites, but very few sales, so I came back and of course had the returning seller flurry of sales which quickly dried up.
The honeymoon period a new seller has that can fade after awhile.
I was paying eBay more than I was making so I closed up shop. I continued to buy but that is coming to an end also. Maybe a few things here and there but nothing like before.
I understand.
I must confess that I LOVED Yahoo auctions...but they are no more.
Never did get involved with them.
