Just wondering...there has been posts regarding the decisions, policies and path Ebay has taken.
So have at it. If YOU were in charge of Ebay, what would YOU do?

An old commercial from United Airlines that summarizes my fantasy for eBay.
I would love to see management travel the country and talk to buyers and sellers.
To be more in touch with buyers and sellers. Sometimes listening can be to one's advantage.

@epowerbargains wrote:This is fun...kinda like daydreaming about winning 1.6 mega lotto....LOL I would admit the emperor has no clothes - and buy some for the emperor from eBay clothing sellers who post lots of pictures and measurements. Then I would eliminate the penalty for "excessive returns" for the sellers who offer "free returns". I would knock off the requirement that returns must be free w/ 30 day return to be top dog rated.....because USPS rates are about to go up yet again and shipping ain't free.
I would require that eBay executives walk in the shoes of your average eBay seller.......then make them buy some new shoes from .....you guessed it a eBay seller........
It all used to be fun........somehow I would mandate fun....................you know to offset the paranoia..........
I'm glad you think this is fun. I had hopes that this would get people thinking and that maybe some good ideas might emerge out of this. @lewisburggold
made a thought provoking comment that sellers should be excited about selling. Unfortunately things can discourage instead of excite. I think good sales can generate that excitement, and a feeling that you are valued and listened to creates that positivity as well, but there are things that erode trust.
Alas, as @7606dennis would say, fun cannot be mandated. Or can it?

Great topic, Castle!
What would i do? Nothing too earth-shattering, i'd like to see a changing of the Old Guard in favor of professionals with both retail and tech experience.

Thank you, @fashunu4eeuh
Sometimes a modest plan of action works just fine. Certainly a working knowledge of retail and tach would be advantageous!

I would sit in front of the fireplace, sip wine, and think about the $13M that evaporated from my ebay stock holdings since January.
Then I would watch "Undercover Boss" on TV.
Then I would tweet this on Twitter; "what is so unique about ebay is the mix of great prices on new quick ship brands, along with the rare, vintage and unique. This holiday season we will bring both to life."
Then, watch football, then,

Put it back. The way it was.

I LOVE this! I would make one tiny change, though. Maybe add at the end, Shop with us now and throughout the year. The magic of Ebay does not end with the holiday season!
You have encapsulated the best of Ebay in just a few short sentences. That is the identity of Ebay that no one can match~that, IMO, is truly unique and would yield the greatest sales.

Better to have some fun - this board has been full of ideas and suggestions for years.....most get ignored by the powers at eBay.......
It is good to have some fun. Remember that all work and no play, etc.
Maybe it's all in the timing. The old, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Maybe now the timing is more auspicious.

It seems you are suggesting that extreme financial losses can generate creativity. I guess that could be inspiring in that way.

I'm late to the convo, but my answer is simple. Simplify eBay. List as much as you want for final value fees on item cost only. Remove cheaters and liars promptly.
Stop making a mess of eBay and go back to basics.

Simple is good. I remember the acronym, KISS. Keep it simple, Stupid.
NOT saying anyone here is stupid! I didn't make up the acronym!
Keep it simple, stupidKISS is an acronym for "Keep it simple, stupid" as a design principle noted by the U.S. Navy in 1960. The KISS principle states that most systems work best if they are kept simple rather than made complicated; therefore simplicity should be a key goal in design, and that unnecessary complexity should be avoided. As someone who was tops in sales and often re-wrote and designed procedures for efficiency and maximum results, I totally understand this. I once condensed an extremely large procedural manual for a major conversion (complete change of operating procedures) into a compact, desk side chart, front and back. Our office was the only office who survived the conversion with no errors and the chart was adopted by all other offices.

In other words, one page, front and back.
It just wasn't practical to expect any kind of efficiency with the voluminous manual presented to us. Can you imagine saying, excuse me while I consult page 997 for the processing information.
Right.
