What you choose to type into an eBay listing does not carry any weight with the IRS.
As a sole proprietor, you cannot deduct "wages" from your income. You must be incorporated to be an employee, and if you do that your corporation must report those wages to the IRS and pay employment taxes.
To qualify as an entry-level (GS-5) IRS revenue agent, you generally need a bachelors degree in accounting or be a certified public accountant. The salary for the GS-5 pay grade is currently $30,414 per year.

I don't know what good you think that will do you? It will not help in any way with the IRS, and it's not going to help sales.
You are free to "protest" however you want, but you may receive backlash you don't like.
Also be aware, you can't "pay yourself" a wage and deduct it like you are trying to claim in your listing. You may want to consult a tax professional and handle this like a reasonable adult. Because if you screw up your taxes, the IRS doesn't play games.

I think adding that verbiage would be a good way to drive off customers.

There are no new rules to report income. You should have been reporting it already.
But sure, put anything in your listing that you think will help. Sorry to hear about your huge depth. I hope you can dig yourself out.

THEY ARE NOT NEW !!!!!!!!!

Would that be ABUSE of power. JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD.
We see this problem in over Policing. NOT WORKING OUT WELL
On the other side we are told to question Authority. I guess it's getting like CHINA Say Nothing See Nothing
Do Nothing Because they will come to your door?
But I fell your right. I really don't need more problems I'm DONE

Little or nothing has changed with the tax laws for filing/paying in 2022. Just file/pay taxes as you have for years.

I think by "backlash" he means either (a) that buyers would be turned off by your footnote, and (b) the consequences of violating the law if you actually try to deduct these phantom wages from your taxes.
Neither of those would be an "abuse of power".

Whatever floats your boat.
Good luck.

I have no idea what this means and I am sure your buyers will be even more confused by it.
01-03-2022 08:16 AM
Why would you do that? Buyers don't care about your financial responsibilities, costs or tax issues. That protects you from nothing and you would probably lose sales as buyers may view it as unnecessary drama.

NOPE not adding it. The views expressed here points to it not being a good thing!
As several have pointed out Just buy and sell as normal the rest will come out in the wash
