I got scammed

So I sold my laptop and within 2 mins I got a message saying I purchased this from the wrong address can you please send it to this one and gives me a picture of the address so I messaged him back and told him I think I can but never answered me back so I started looking the sale and found another eBay ID so I sent them a several messages and no response so then I sent it out to the new address well the original person that brought it started a complaint and he wouldn't answer any of my messages only through the complaint I screen shot him the address and join asking for me to send it to a different address he claims is wasn't him I told him I been messaging you for days and never get a response only through complaint will you respond he didn't answer that either but he still telling eBay that I'm stealing his money it got delivered and it wasn't the right address. So if you get a message saying I'm changing my address to this one don't do it

You only ship to the buyers registered Ebay address, sounds like you got scammed by a thief pretending to be the origional buyer.There is nothing wrong with shipping to a freight forwarder, the seller is only responsible to ship it to the ff, not to a foreign country.But in your case, when you shipped to a different address, you lost all seller protection, sorry.

You only ship to the address on the eBay order. But, you know that now.

Sorry this happened to you.

You will probabley never see you Computer or Money again.  You should make a complaint to the USPS so that they can track how many scams are going on with the address.  After a while they may investigate and maybe shut down one scammer.

The address isn't the address of the scammer.  It's just a freight forwarder/consolidator.  They're not responsible for the scam nor would they likely have any knowledge of it.

     Common well known scam that you could have found in 100's of postings on this forum. Sorry this happened to you but if your original buyer was not responding and they had paid you and then you received the message regarding changing the address you should have simply responded to the buyer and said you could only ship to the address the buyer had as the shipping address at the time of the sale and asked them if they wanted to cancel the transaction.

     If the buyer never responded I would have simply canceled the transaction using problem with the buyers address.

The solution to this issue is simple and eBay tells you about it:

The seller is required to ship to the address provided when the buyer pays.

If someone (maybe the buyer, maybe not) messages the seller and requests that he ship to a different address, the seller's response should be some version of this:  Per eBay rules, I am required to ship to the address provided when the buyer pays.  If that address was wrong, I have to cancel, refund and you have to buy again, making sure you have given the right address this time around.

I sent it out to the new address

@cananot2112

Yes, you got scammed.  It is highly likely the person messaging you was a different ID than your buyer of record.  They have a name:  Change of address scammer

It can be the buyer of record, or someone impersonating the buyer.  Either way, you will not have delivery confirmation to the address provided with the payment, so you lose once the buyer of record files an item not received claim.

Ittybitnot ,

Yes your totally correct I screwed up , I'm out 1700 dollars,my problem is I showed eBay who they where and there account address and told them that the place it was delivered to has then on camera cause they had to show ID to receive the box, I been on eBay since 2011 and never had a problem all these years never in my defense I have changed peoples address over 50 times cause it was gift or there in school or visiting,so I really thought it was just a normal thing but after looking into this deeper I see that there eBay ID was just like the buyer but had an underscore and period in it then I found other for the same sale one minute past it being sold asking me to change the address to the same Delaware address that's 3 different accounts telling me to change the address,and I told eBay all this even told them look through my messages ans why didnt the real buyer ever responded to all my messages??? There is more than meets the eye here cause that same buyer has only been member for 1 month but don't matter I still shipped it to the scammers address but I shouldn't have to pay eBay a selling fee since it wasn't sold eBay didn't even look into this scam they said wrong address you made a mistake so that's your problem, **bleep** ?? They have his address it was delivered to , I'm not expecting to get my money but I was expecting them to contact the member that received the laptop and say hey you received a stolen property it was delivered to you and your signed for it and showed ID but nope all on me . Now I have filed a ic3 on him and eBay and I talked to local police but there like um so you sent it to the wrong address now you want it back to be honest there isn't anyway we can prove he has that I'm like he signed for it and showed ID well that can mean a different package it's a laptop not a car then tells me try calling the Delaware police see if they can go by the address and maybe rough him up that might work I was totally **bleep** cause like everyone else I screwed up and now you want everyone to pay for your mistake wow 😲 that's just messed up true but I still got scammed and can't get help if I could drive there I would. Im just letting everyone know that address and name is a scam but eBay already took the name out and gave me a bunch of crap telling me I can't slander eBay customers so where is the justice for me?

     I am going to guess that the address you shipped the item to was that of a freight forwarder which makes it even more of a mess. This means the buyer is likely international. You might try contacting the freight forwarder if they have not already forwarded the item and see if they can be of any assistance although I highly doubt it. Although trafficking stolen property is a bit of an issue but it happens all the time.
