I have multiple quantities of an item listed for $45. I do not have 'best offer' enabled.
I have no current offers out there...but this evening, someone bought the items for $40.
What gives with this new twist?

Hmmm, I see two items sold on 9-25. Is the one you are referencing the “Bath & Body Works JUNIPER BREEZE Shower Gel Body Cream & Lotion 3pc Set”? I took a screen shot showing the sold price is $45 on the completed listing. Where did you see the $40? Did you use any listing upgrades on it or promote it?
(Have you now revised the price to $50?)
PS—it is most commendable to care for animals in such a hands-on way. Wish you much good selling.

The last two sales of that item appear to have been via offers, according to the item history here:
https://www.ebay.com/bin/purchaseHistory?item=186461854115
The average of the two sales appears to have been $40, according to Terapeak:

Have you ever sent out an offer on this item? If so, the automatic offers toggle may have been prechecked for you and will send them out repeatedly on your behalf.
