Hello everyone, very frustrated today. I usually don't post here ...so its a testament to how frustrated I have to be. Long story short, buyer purchases a part I ship out on time, etc. Buyer then opens a return for " / not working" okay no problem, per my return set up its automatic and sends the label automatically without me doing anything. I had reached out to the buyer asking for some more details and if he can provide how he used the part and to essentially to try and help him out regardless of the return . No response. Side note the buyer made the account the same day of purchase ( red flag 9/10 times EASILY ) buyer opens a CASE? How is that possible. Get an email from ebay 932 am buyer opens case, 933 email problem with shipping label, 934 am case is ON HOLD hmmm never happened this way , strange. Case was put on hold I couldn't even do anything and was VERY confused as to why it was on hold. 5 days later get an email awarding the buyer a FULL return FULL REFUND and basically stating that I didn't upload or give the buyer the shipping label. That is 100% FALSE as my returns are automatically processed. Chatting with ebay and literally cannot make ANYONE understand what I am trying to help them! Buyer still unresponsive, ebay telling me that I " failed' to provide a shipping label and was given 5 days to do so, when in reality the case headline stated that " wrong item sent'
SO is it defective? is it WRONG ITEM SENT? Is it SHIPPING LABEL ISSUES? WAIT ITS ALL OF THOSE IN ONE BIG FAT **bleep** of a situation. I am SO FRIGGEN FRUSTRATED WITH THIS!

They cased it so you cannot deduct from the refund. Common practice. There is someone out there telling them to do this. Half of my returns immediately become cases for no reason.
They are not new. They probably got kicked off once already and its just a new account they created.

You should have let this thread get a mile long before accepting a solution.
I have had several “new” buyers turn returns into cases immediately. The last one was demanding additional items not shown described or offered in the listing. He opened a return. I argued with him and shouldn’t have but I approved the return. He got a return that was going fine turned into a case. That case gave me zero options to close it the whole time it was open. Couldn’t even refund if I wanted. No time to inspect the return, automatically closed, defect for me.
I did everything 100% right and the return would have ended with a refund.
They are misusing the cases to circumvent a seller being able to deduct anything from the refund. There must be a guide on Facebook or something. CS is to stupid to understand what is happening and they will open these cases for the buyer when they absolutely shouldn’t. Its to convoluted for anyone not experiencing it to understand.
If a return is going fine there should be no option for a case. That would be common sense. Can’t have that.

There are guides all over the place that teach people how to rip off sellers on all of the different selling sites using the systems in place on those sites. eBay has no incentive to put a stop to it either. In their mind it keeps buyers happy and if they do it enough, they can extract more fees from sellers buy the defect penalties. In eBay's perspective it is win-win situation. For sellers on the other hand, it is theft.

I'm sick & tired of impatient buyers who open INR cases after only 2 weeks! Canada to US has slowed down quite a bit in the last 18 months. Wait! Your package will arrive! Of course, now I'm giving stuff away for free & paying to ship it to them. 6 in the last 2 weeks! No - they are not tracked. $$$ in Canada for tracking. No - not paying $15 for tracking on a $8 sale. Someone actually commented that I should not sell to US buyers then. Right! Take away a high % of my sales. Also - good luck not doing that on .com. LOL!

I hope i'm not jinxing myself for saying this, but every time I see sellers complaining about excessive returns, I scratch my head. My return rate is so minute. Way less than 1%. I'm a part time seller. I sell only about 1000 items per year. 1% would be 10 returns. I may have 1, 2 maybe 3 returns a year. I guess i've just been lucky.

Me too, I guess. I sell about 2,500 items annually (on my selling account). I have had only two returns this year, both of which were my fault (errors on condition I missed).
It's a minute percentage, and I write the losses off when our accountant files for us at year end.

Same thing happening to me. I sell seeds on Ebay, and can't add tracking to these small envelopes without a big fee that I'd have to add to my price. This week I got 3 INR cases opened TWO DAYS after the purchase! What in the world it going to get anywhere in 2 days? They don't message me, the seller, they jump immediately to opening a case. I have decided to just stop selling any items on Ebay that don't have tracking, so no more seeds on Ebay. I have an Etsy store, and that's doing great without all the hassles of Ebay, so I'm just dropping them.
