I just have to vent here... I had a piece of glassware listed. I've never seen another like it for sale on eBay. A buyer messaged me asking if I could lower shipping price. Truly massive, heavy piece -- I said no. Same buyer messaged right back asking if I could reduce price. I lost it. 1) I decided I no longer wanted to sell the item and ended the listing. 2) Blocked the person. 3) Smart a$$ that I am, I replied -- "Send me your address I'll give it to you and ship it for free!! NOT!!" I went on to point out to this person (newish to eBay) that they have not left feedback for any of the sellers who have left positive feedback for them. They replied saying I need to handle my anger issues. 🤣 No expletives or four letter words were exchanged. I was sarcastic and truthful. Don't know if I committed a reportable offense or not, but I feel much better!! I seriously don't know what is wrong with people -- I guess they don't realize the effort involved in selling on eBay... maybe they assume sellers just sit on their heinies and do it all electronically like buyers do?

Well, you were rude and had I received a response like that, I would've responded the same. I think you'll feel the same tomorrow. Remember, it's just 'business', not personal.
Now, know that you are not wrong, but ebay is a glorified CL and/or garage sale to many- so for 'used' items they think they are 'just negotiating'.
I make/sell new items, so I just respond with 'Sorry, we are a business doing business here, and prices are as shown. Thanks". You could probably respond the same "Sorry, but price as shown for the item is the lowest I can go, and the shipping costs are just true costs".. something like that.

I agree with the buyer........you do need to learn to let stuff like this "flow over"........it's not worth getting upset about.......You are dealing with the public and their responses can be anything from the sublime to the ridiculous..... Striking back at someone is just going to get you into trouble someday.........

I've totally been there bud. Don't sweat it too much and just learn from it and move on. We all have these moments. Just make up for it on the next few exchanges with future buyers.
With that being said, for the record there is no violation for a seller being rude to a buyer... as long as it doesn't include profanity, hate speech, etc. I recall a recent post a buyer had asking where on ebay can he report a seller for being rude to them. Everyone pretty much responded that being rude isn't a violation... although frowned upon. Even if your buyer reported you for this, I'm sure the CS agent wouldn't even bother pushing that thru.

I had a message from a potential buyer about measurements I told her I have pictures with the measurements and she lost it and started harassing me because I told her nicely to look at the pictures! I had to block her! I have no idea what is happening to people these days they want to take it out on others for no reason!!!

" I said no. Same buyer messaged right back asking if I could reduce price."
At that point I would say...nothing. No response.
I understand the temptation to be a " Smart a$$" but usually those types of comments made in anger turn out to be dumb azz comments and self-defeating. The best comments not made are the ones you think of later, after it doesn't matter anymore and the trivial issue evaporates.

What you did (sending the message to the buyer) is by no means professional. I have worked in customer service for about 20 years, and I can say we have all lost our tempers at one time or another with a customer that was being unreasonable.
Try to learn from this and stay cool the next time someone pushes your buttons.

I had bought a Dewalt impact drill incase I needed it when replacing my clutch on my truck. For the most part the drill was way to powerful and I did not use it and instead used a combination of breaker bars to loosen the bolts and a socket wrench to remove the bolts. As I had no use for the drill I planned on reselling it later on around Thanksgiving as I figured there would be a larger amount of buyers looking for gift items at that time. With the drill, its original box, battery and charger usually not included I had to use a larger box to fit every thing in and with weight I knew I would likely have to wait for a buyer in my same state due to the postal rates. I had reasonably priced it even though it was basically like new. I had so many offers from buyers around the country wanting me to lower my asking price due to the shipping cost they were being given in the listing.
While each offer made me laugh I politely told them that I could not due anything about the shipping cost and would not be able to lower my asking price due to them being considerably far away from me. I let them know that I understand the cost of shipping may be a issue to them but I will be waiting for a buyer closer to me who has no issue with the shipping cost.
About a week later I finally got a buyer in my state and after he received the item. He thanked me and let me know he was quite pleased and the tool would be a good addition to his work tools. When a buyer asks for such a discount as your buyer. It is never worth while to get into it with them. I would say having to pull the item and block the buyer was not worth it. Especially as it was clearly a new buyer to eBay and all they needed was a quick short reply about how you can not do anything about the postal rates and higher cost in shipping due to the distance between you and them , but I do understand your frustration.
