I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH, THANK YOU AND GOOD BYE!

O.K., so this is IT. I am not going to list here anything else in the future - regardless of how many FREE listings eBay prefers to throw my way! Seriously considering not even relisting the ones already listed here, though I may give them some time to run out on their own.

I absolutely HAD it. Three times in a row - with weeks apart - a buyer claimed false reasons for returning an item, in order to get FREE shipping, by leaving me no chance to refuse the return shipping cost! eBay does NOTHING to protect the sellers against these kinds of atrocities. The buyer can open a case of return with literally ANY invented reason. eBay does not ask the buyer to provide a photo, or otherwise explain the reason, making it now even harder for sellers by extending the return times. JEWELRY HAS A 14 DAYS RETURN,  per eBay's own statement. My listings of jewelry have a 14 days return, also. Not 21, not 30. eBay nonchalantly announced to change this, for absolutely NO logical reason, because so many people being currently at home, the return time-frame could actually be shorter, but definitely not longer!

30 days gives buyer plenty of opportunity to have a change of heart and mind, and simply return the item claiming non-existent "Item not as described," or even worse, DAMAGE the item and then claim that it was damaged already when sent by the seller.

I describe my items correctly, and for the most part, provide 10-12 pictures for each. I accept returns with NO questions asked, but I am not going to pay for any more dishonest buyers to claim non-existent reasons for return. Strange to note, With hundreds upon hundreds of sales elsewhere: I did not have a SINGLE return on my other selling sites, for years! Not because I do not accept returns. My feedback on other sites is also 100% with NO returns, ever.

Add to the picture eBay's continued harassment for giving them all kinds of private information and being charged a tax of 12.5% on the tax portion of the sales come July - I am out.

You are losing MASSES of honest, experienced and knowledgeable sellers - many of whom are much higher volume sellers than my little business - because you provide the most horrible customer service to your sellers, eBay!

I think I have seen enough. Totally FURIOUS about people stealing my money that I work VERY hard to earn, and will no longer expose myself to this kind of abuse.

I regret that I have EVER returned to this site, to be truthful. The way you are treating your sellers is ABYSMAL. The only entity making money here is YOU eBay - and your preferred few.

Good luck to all sellers. Looks like some of you will need it...

PW

Not sure you understand selling principles of this kind of a sale for a large entity...........someone pays for the 20%......not ebay.......the sellers do........so are you willing to drop YOUR prices by 20%?  Perhaps so.......but ebay can't get the permission of millions of sellers to run a side wide sale...  They can of course, as they have done in the past, pay the 20% themselves, but I can assure you they didn't on this one........which is the reason for the "chosen" sellers......  Remember also, that those sellers have to show that they have the inventory to handle a sale of this kind before they are even considered as chosen...........

Kind of like the reason they used for cutting the TRS discount in half.  It was to fund the Promoted Listing discounts given to store owners.  So in essence Ebay didn't pay for that, TRS did.

@dhbookds

Mam, to me they aren't the same.........  Ebay changed where they allocate their promotional $$ to sellers in cutting the TRS discount and then giving the promo discount......  This sale is simply a "Sale"......certainly ebay will take in less fvf % because of the lower price, assuming big sellers pay fvf, but I'm sure they are hoping to attract more buyers, as well as perhaps take in more fvf$ (if they get any) from more volume......  From the sellers standpoint, it's certainly not unusual for companies to discount products to a retailer for "promotional"  sales.  In this case, they are dealing directly with the buyer with the discount.......ebay is simply aggregating the sale over a number of sellers, since ebay doesn't "handle" the product.

I am confused. Do you want people feel sorry for poor eBay not taking in enough money, with the latest CEO (Wenig) taking a 57 Million dollar severance package, and the median employee income being 134,000? I know you cannot possibly mean this seriously. I am sure you know who pays for all this, right?

And I was talking about a 20% eBay bucks program, how nice and patriotic it would have been to issue such, for Memorial Day. Not that sellers should reduce their price.

This thread got way off topic, though - the original post was not just about the Managed Payment and the fees associated with it.

Many of us have contributed to other things being discussed on this thread, but as I understand it from you post early in this thread, it played a part of your decision as well.  [MP]

Only listed 4 items since posting. Maybe just slowly quitting.

I don't blame you for thinking deeper as to your decision. Thanks for your comment. Stay safe!

Thanks but it was not my decision. I checked your relists and see you've added another 24 or so. No prolblem that you changed your mind.

@dhbookds wrote:

Yep.........the buyers

Not really...the buyers pay nothing to eBay, we the sellers get paid by them and we fork over a big chunk of OUR money to eBay. Some of the features and services we sellers pay for are:

- Listing fees (where free listing promos do help some, but not all sellers get them, not all receive the same number of them and they often do not cover the endless forced relisting of Fixed price listings;

- Item Final Value Fee (FVF);

- Final Value Fee on Shipping that the buyer paid to us, sellers;

- Paid promo so eBay can do what it promised to do in the beginning: show our listings to interested buyers;

- Store subscriptions (by sellers who want a store);

- Shipping labels (which eBay discounts for us sellers but not by as much as it takes in from the deals with various carriers.

The above list is certainly not complete and it will change once eBay takes another 2.5% from clothing and jewelry sellers by increasing the FVF for these categories - as well as the additional 12.5% from the TAX portion of what buyers pay to eBay - technically stealing from eBay sellers. This amounts to a lot of $$$ eBay also invests part of our money to further earn interest on it.

'While I am aware that eBay has other sources of income from a variety of business holdings, sellers seem to be squeezed to contribute more and more - for less and less in exchange.

Sorry, I do not understand. I have not changed my mind, and have not listed a single new item since this thread was opened. I have still 86 expired listings waiting to be either relisted or taken off this site. But the overall number of my active listings is close to half of what I had at the time of my first post. I had over 230 active listings, back then - and now have little over 120. Some items sold, others (auctions) expired and I have not touched them.

Whatever is already listed, will remain listed until the last day before Managed Paynonsense becomes mandatory, or I might end them as I go. If anything sells, fine - if eBay proceeds to hide my listings, that is fine, also. As the Fixed price item free listings are used up, they will not be renewed as I detest the idea of making then mandatory to be renewed. eBay has taken over even the last little bit of control over our business now: the listing renewal. For some, this is O.K. But not for others.

And I have no intention to enroll in MP.

Best of luck to you

You may want to check your listings because EBay must be the one who is relisting your stuff. Click on newly listed and you will se e a whole page of newly listed items.

I understand that but she says she is not wanting to relist, or list anything new on Ebay anymore. Maybe she needs to cancel those listings instead of allowing Ebay to relist them for her.

@chapeau-noir

When using sell similar it is still adding new items but the OP says she is done with Ebay and will stop listing items.

Done when managed payments is phased in.  That's a couple of months.

What I said was that I will not list anything new (meaning, items that have never been listed here before). However, the currently existing listings are still running their own course. Auctions are checked in the little box inside the listing template to automatically relist themselves up to 8 times for free. But they will show up as Newly Listed.

As chapeu-noir says, the Fixed price items continue to relist themselves, also, and as long as I still have about 80 free listings of this month's worth of 200, I do not care. Then there is another batch of 200 free listings for June and this will end in July, just in time before I would have to register for Migraine Painments.

Does this help?

In addition of the above listings, I also have 86 sitting under Expired or ended listings, and on those I am holding back as I carefully have to re-evaluate for each what to do. If they are not worth the time or money to sacrifice a free listing - I will remove them. If they are, then a few might get relisted. But again, NO new listings, and I have a ton of lovely inventory.

Re: I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH, THANK YOU AND GOOD BYE!

I am going to give short input here...

Based on my experience...

If I fight a buyer's return I can pretty much guarantee myself losing.

That buyer WILL ship the item back and I WILL be issuing a FULL refund free shipping.

But...

If I simply accept the return, ask no questions, thank you and please and then radio silence...

Especially during extended return times...

I have found there is a far better chance that it may actually work out somewhat in my favor.

Just my experience.

Yes. And by then, other venues which are up and coming, will become stronger and stronger. I for one am sick and tired of "you cannot do this, and should do that." These people have lost a sense of reality!

Once, eBay was the only game in town, but today it is NOT. To tell people they cannot even mention where else they are selling - that is backwards. And for millions of people to gladly carry that bridle in their mouth, is surreal! All other venues allow sellers to proudly post other venues they are also presenting their items on. Maybe not even the same merchandise, just something else - but the muzzle is ridiculous. Look around and start counting all the no-no things eBay wants us to abide by. I have a feeling that you would not be done by tomorrow morning...LOL.

All of these big venues are over the top when it comes to regulating and micro-managing our own business, for which we have been paying taxes for many years, without being in the possession of our inventory, without lifting their little finger on packaging and taking the packages to the post office or other carrier. They are not the ones getting up in the middle of the night, whether it is a hot summer or a very cold winter, as many sellers do, to make sure a package is packed and that fragile label was not forgotten, that thank you card and that little gift is included. They are not the ones driving while struggling with migraine headache or freshly discharged from the hospital and needing bed rest. They are not the ones who have to deal with unjustifiable and BOGUS returns, including the monetary loss for the same. And for all this pleasure of taking care of OUR customers in an expert manner, THEY take us to the cleaners financially. And they take our self-esteem and shove it up the donkey's behind. Not so with mine. My 22 years of performance as a seller with wonderful record - and no returns elsewhere, only here - tell me what needs to be decided. I will not beg eBay to drive traffic to my beautiful and very generously priced listings, and most definitely, not pay extra when they already take a large portion of my "earnings" for said service. I am also sick and tired of their continuous attempts to place permanent cookies etc. on my laptop. Thank God for state-of-the-Art antivirus software and technically trained (IT) friends.

New horizons are opening and they embrace good sellers. eBay can take its bullying where the sun don't shine. Etsy, eBay, AZ have built a monopoly and it would not surprise me a bit to know that they are all in this together; making one wonder what their true agenda really is.

I am truly disillusioned in eBay, because I have held out some hope that the recent downturn in their luck would humble them and make them more seller-friendly. But no. If anything, it only emboldened them to do one dumb thing after another to satisfy their bottomless appetite for $ - not realizing that these changes are the most likely to COST them $.

If I could have just a crumb of hope that the new CEO happens to be someone who cares about our unheard suffering, and would roll back the mandatory listing of FP listings, the FVF on shipping and taxes and completely revamps the current return system, I might stay. But there is not much pointing in that direction. Just the opposite is true: None of the last 3 CEOs were able to see that their best bet is NOT to issue one restriction after the other - rather, to go in the other direction and stay out of our business, and make this a pleasant marketplace - just like it once used to be (note that I am not talking about the truly necessary policies put in place, but those are also often enforced arbitrarily, as is the case with not allowing Native American jewelry to be listed without tribal identification and stamp - yet, I know several large jewelry sellers who list "Zuni" and "Navajo" etc. jewelry with no item description or item specifics, just a title and one (1) photo. These are MEGA sellers. Not one of them got any of their policy-violating listing removed - but I was unable to complete the ONE such listing with thorough description and 12 pictures, explaining that the Artist signed it, I was just unable to decipher the siggie. And then they go to a congressional hearing and testify that their policies are strictly enforced. Yeah, right).

The perks have also become smaller and smaller, both for sellers and buyers. The eBay bucks buyers can earn, as well as the savings in fees for TRS have been reduced by 50%. I should offer FREE returns on everything or FREE shipping to become a TRS - really? Too funny. Have to check what my billionaire uncle David has to say about THAT. (Psst: I do not have a billionaire uncle, if I had one, I would not be an online seller. But I am afraid, if I had an uncle like that, he would tell me that he would not have become a billionaire if he offered free stuff to everyone).

Good luck to everyone. I have a feeling many will need it. I am at peace with my decision. This is my final post on this thread. I do not mind if they remove it, I kept a screen shot.

Re: I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH, THANK YOU AND GOOD BYE!

I just wish ebay would hold off on managed payments to give sellers time to make a decision if they want to stay or go.
Yeah, I know we all knew managed payments were coming, but we didn't know the country was gonna get shut down right before then.
Going on 3 weeks that I asked an eBay employee questions about managed payments and nothing but crickets.

Re: I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH, THANK YOU AND GOOD BYE!

i have seen enough

i saw enough a couple of months ago, and yeah, i said goodbye and it stands firm: goodbye eBay.

Your thread is quite large and i've read through it over the last couple of days, as it seems to be sticking in the first loadups.

i think i read more disdaining eBay posts than embracing eBay posts.

I did note some posts basically saying eBay is too big to fail. You know, like in loss some sellers, more will sign up, in which i'd sadly surmise, is very very true.  But at some point in time the continuing dissatisfaction with eBay will cause irreversible damage. No business is too big to fail. And i doubt big brother will bail them out, but who knows, the politicians do chummy up with corporate weasels.

Best of luck to you
