I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH, THANK YOU AND GOOD BYE!

O.K., so this is IT. I am not going to list here anything else in the future - regardless of how many FREE listings eBay prefers to throw my way! Seriously considering not even relisting the ones already listed here, though I may give them some time to run out on their own.

I absolutely HAD it. Three times in a row - with weeks apart - a buyer claimed false reasons for returning an item, in order to get FREE shipping, by leaving me no chance to refuse the return shipping cost! eBay does NOTHING to protect the sellers against these kinds of atrocities. The buyer can open a case of return with literally ANY invented reason. eBay does not ask the buyer to provide a photo, or otherwise explain the reason, making it now even harder for sellers by extending the return times. JEWELRY HAS A 14 DAYS RETURN,  per eBay's own statement. My listings of jewelry have a 14 days return, also. Not 21, not 30. eBay nonchalantly announced to change this, for absolutely NO logical reason, because so many people being currently at home, the return time-frame could actually be shorter, but definitely not longer!

30 days gives buyer plenty of opportunity to have a change of heart and mind, and simply return the item claiming non-existent "Item not as described," or even worse, DAMAGE the item and then claim that it was damaged already when sent by the seller.

I describe my items correctly, and for the most part, provide 10-12 pictures for each. I accept returns with NO questions asked, but I am not going to pay for any more dishonest buyers to claim non-existent reasons for return. Strange to note, With hundreds upon hundreds of sales elsewhere: I did not have a SINGLE return on my other selling sites, for years! Not because I do not accept returns. My feedback on other sites is also 100% with NO returns, ever.

Add to the picture eBay's continued harassment for giving them all kinds of private information and being charged a tax of 12.5% on the tax portion of the sales come July - I am out.

You are losing MASSES of honest, experienced and knowledgeable sellers - many of whom are much higher volume sellers than my little business - because you provide the most horrible customer service to your sellers, eBay!

I think I have seen enough. Totally FURIOUS about people stealing my money that I work VERY hard to earn, and will no longer expose myself to this kind of abuse.

I regret that I have EVER returned to this site, to be truthful. The way you are treating your sellers is ABYSMAL. The only entity making money here is YOU eBay - and your preferred few.

Good luck to all sellers. Looks like some of you will need it...

PW

I like Etsy too except for that 15% offsite advertising fee hits you.  On top of their other fees, which are reasonable until you add this one in.

You can get on the Etsy forums and other sellers will help you through your issues.

...based on your inputs...is there any evidence to back up for your statement that eBay was burdensome in submitting sales tax for sellers is last 2 years...and because of that, eBay now force sellers to compensate for their losses (by MP program)...???

Interesting.  I thought logic would dictate that.  But OK.

Ebay had to:

Created the software to charge the sales tax on the buyer's invoices.

Create a table for the various states and the rates in which were to be charged by their 9 digit zip codes.

Create software to collect and account for the sales taxes collected.

Accounting process for remitting the taxes to the appropriate states.

Customer service to answer member questions on Ebay regarding this subject.

Labor to administer the policies, procedures and accounting for these sales tax.

Among other things I likely left out.

So are you of the opinion that none of that cost Ebay any money to develop, implement and manage?

As for MP.  Ebay also lowered the FVF on the product and shipping to help offset the new FVF on the sales tax.  It is easy to pick one portion of a complex change like to a Simplified Fee and run with that.  But it will not give you an accurate picture of what is really transpiring.  You need to look at it in a broader sense and take into consideration other fees that lowered.  Just looking at a couple transaction will not give you an accurate view.  So if you desire an accurate view and a better understanding of this fee change, you need to do a little work and compare your sales between the two methods over a period of time.  If you decide to do this it is best to keep international sales separate as it has their own issues.

For many years these boards have been lit up with unhappy sellers that are leaving.

That's something for the Etsy forums - ask there on the "Managing Your Shop" section and someone will help you out.

I sold on Etsy for several years but bailed when Silverman started forcing initiatives on we shop owners that didn't work with what I sold, and then the forced 15% marketing fee was the final nail.

You can turn that fee off.

I waited a while to see if I got a bunch of sales via that method.  I just got my first one today, so clearly it isn't that big of a deal for what I sell there, so I just turned it off for now.  And I won't have to worry about it again.  That is a steep fee to pay.

I agree, particularly with the revolving door CEOs (and the 'unlocking shareholder value' - ugh...).  But I wouldn't expect too much from The Donald.  The last stats I saw eBay had about 6% of the online market share compared to Amazon's about 45% - and even though eBay is running second to Amazon, it's too small to bother with.

@mam98031  Sorry - I mean 12% for those selling over $10k a year, which was me.  By the time I went back to correct 15% to 12% my editing time was up.  The 15% fee for under $10k a year can be turned off, but it's easy to get buried there now - the amount of drop shipping and Ali-Express, plus the relabeled mass produced items along with the wonky search makes it tough on vintage clothing sellers (not an easy sell to begin with, I know).

You are going to have to give more than that for me to better understand.  I'm more than willing to work with you here.  I just need to understand what is offensive.  Asia is a continent and so they are as a whole referred to as Asian people.  In the US, we are on the North American continent and we are referred to as Americans.  It is the same theory.  And there are all kinds of other answers from referring to people by their continent or country.

Here is your previous post exactly as you posted it.

...you should be careful in naming any race as you wrote this..."...Asian sellers are a real issue in some categories..."

...your input reminded the statement from California Governor Newsom recently, "...Coronavirus was from those Nail Salons..."...the Asian Community is now suing Newsom for being discrimination against Asians because 99% of those nail shops owners are Asians...

...he definitely won't get any votes from Asians next election...but he probably won't care as illegal votes and dead votes will make it up for him...

You are correct.  You didn't say that I said anything about the virus, I mis-spoke.  You said what I said reminded you of something someone else said.  That I don't know about nor would it be anything I would agree with.

Asian definition is as follows:  a native of Asia or a person of Asian descent.

https://www.google.com/search?q=define+asian&oq=define+asian&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l7.2534j0j1&sourceid...

As you can see it has nothing to do with "race" but their origination country / continent in this world.

We have enough going on in the world right now.  Trying to create a race relate issue on a thread is just unnecessary.  Especially since it wasn't a racial comment or statement.

Re: I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH, THANK YOU AND GOOD BYE!

...as a business owner (I assumed) you know about business expenses that can be tax exemption...so that is my answer for the listing of expenses you provided on behalf of eBay...

...second, under the new MP, it will cost me more than saving...

* NOW: sold an item for $100 + $10 sales tax = $110, 10% FVF for eBay (on $100 sales price) + 2.9% for PayPal on ($110 total sales) + $0.25 transaction fee also for PP = $13.44 in fees

* NEW MP: same sold item amount, 12.50% flat rate FVF + $0.30 order fee = $14.05 in fees

...$0.66 more to pay in fees, more in time to wait for money to be deposited...the "-" vs. the "+"...

You and I aren't likely to get anywhere in what you think is or isn't going on as you appear to have your mind made up and are not willing to look at it any other way.  That is your choice.  Whatever you decide to do moving forward with Ebay or not, I wish you nothing but the very best.

Looking at the fees the way you are doing, as I previously stated, does not give you an accurate realization to how it may turn out for you.

NO returns does not mean no refunds; eBay's money Back Guarantee over-rides anything a seller may have for a return policy...with exception of applicable buyer's remorse...but lately it seems eBay has become more of a free for all for buyers..
