Did you mean:

How would you proceed with this return?

I talked about this in a earlier post but there have been some new developments.

Buyer buys 4 boxes of chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies.

A month later he opens a return saying i sent him the wrong flavor.

He says i sent him just plain macadamia nut.

I questioned the seller about how many were wrong or what exactly he received.

I asked if h could send me a picture of what he received.

Of course I get no reply.

So I accept the return.

The return shows 4 of 4 items returned.

Today I received the return.

He sent back only 1 of the 4 boxes.  It's opened and half-eaten.

Besides that it is not the box i sent him. It has a Amazon sticker on it.

I messaged the buyer again.

This time he responds admitting that he did order some of these cookies from Amazon.

I assured him the box he sent me was not from me. It came from amazon.

I asked him at this point what he would like me  to do.

He said it would be nice if I sent him a box of chocolate chip macadamia nut or send him his opened box back. (very odd)

How would you proceed at this point?

But Amazon was the seller, in many cases, on the purchase.

While eBay is "just a venue".

EBay wants to keep buyers.

AZ wants sellers to find great products that they can copy and sell at a lower price than the original seller.

If there is a sketchy return, eBay wants to make the buyer happy while AZ doesn't want to lose money on their sale.

(Does it work out like that? EBay has been profitable this year, while AZ lost billions again.)

" ... ... to get him to close the return.

I'm fully prepared though if he doesn't.

If he doesn't I am prepared to issue him a full refund before the deadline ... then deal with ebay."

@inhawaii

I appreciate the recommendations that @katzrul15 proposed to your situation.

Even if you've to do the refund to this dishonest return, you're not making the process easy for this person.

You're calling him/her out and hoping he/she will do the right thing.

Also, how does his/her feedbacks to other sellers on this platform looks like?

When you get the chance, much appreciate if you could PM (via private message) the ID of this person.

Would BBL on my wife's selling account.

Thank you.

UPDATE

The buyer kept on saying he would cancel the return but never did.

My time to refund without ebay stepping in is up.

Full refund given with the note...

Hello XXX, You did not cancel the return like you said you would. Ebay has forced me to refund you the entire amount even though you only sent back 1 of the 4 boxes of cookies. Enjoy your free cookies.

No Returns Doesn't mean No Refunds! That's what happens when YOU do not own your inventory and are a Drop Shipper. Refund is Due ASAP.

I'm not a drop shipper.

I've never drop shipped.

Everything I sell is on hand and is shipped by me.

@inhawaii

I appreciate your realization that when the shoe is on the other foot- it feels different. Nobody likes to get scammed.   Anyway- i would just message the buyer or reach out by phone if his number is on the original ebay invoice page- (it is 75% of the time), and just ask them to close the return because ebay only leaves you the option to report him as a fraudulent buyer/return otherwise, and you understand it was a mistake and do not want to hurt his ebay account for no reason.

So ironic how I give out advice all day long,

telling sellers to "eat it" and "that's the cost of doing business"

but when it happens to me, I get all upset.  LOL  Oh well.

Well at least i discovered a new ebay scam.

Buy 100 items.

Start a return.

Return just 1 of the items.  Keep the other 99.

Get a full refund.

It's not new, just maybe one you had not heard of. It's unfortunate it happened to you and unfortunate that you will have to refund in full or get penalized.

While these scams don't happen all the time, they are happening more and more. I suspect they will accelerate even more with the economy being what it is. I mean, the buyer is stealing COOKIES for goodness sakes.  We are faceless and buyers don't even have to look us in the eye (though it probably would not matter anyway).

I'm sure that when the first of the year and my store renewal comes, I am moving from a yearly plan to a month to month plan. Even if it costs more it gives me the ability to close the doors and liquidate ALL of my inventory through a auction house and be done with all of this. This year for me has not been good at all. Sales are way down, to the point I am not making much more than store fees every month.  I know most of you try to stay upbeat about it, but I have 9k items and nearly $250,000 of inventory listed.  When you are selling 10 items a day, one knucklehead buyer every 3-6 months is not so bad. When you sell a couple items a week, that knucklehead is much less bearable.

Wait a week or so & then send the "buyer" a carefully worded form letter.

Something along the lines of  "I have been notified that there is a recall on the (insert type of cookie here) I have sold. My records indicate that you purchased these cookies from me.  DO NOT consume these cookies! The factory, & FDA found an extensive rat infestation in the factory, & cookies are contaminated with rat droppings. Or, there was a chemical leak in the factory & cookies may have been contaminated with a carcinogen.  Maybe the chemical leaked causes sterility.  Please destroy the cookies, DO NOT eat them! I will be sending a refund shortly. I am sorry for the inconvenience."

Let your imagination run wild with the problem with the cookies. But make it believable enough that the crooked buyer won't eat the cookies.  And if they did eat them, imagine their delight in knowing that they have been eating rat droppings or carcinogens.

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

Where is there any indication the OP is drop shipping? Did you just pull this out of the air?

Read post 7. I understood what he was saying, but it is confusing verbiage, it literally means he sent a box from Amazon.

"I got back ONE of the FOUR boxes i sent.

And that box was opened and half-eaten and from Amazon!"

Sorry I wasn't clear.

I sent the buyer 4 boxes.

The box he returned to me wan't one that I sent him.

It was a different flavor and it had a "Amazon" sticker on it.
