@luckythewinner

Asking whether cotton is soft or not doesn't seem like an "unreasonable" question to me.

How about the quesion:

Is this 100% cotton t-shirt using the soft cotton? (Implying softness compared to other t-shirts)

No, this t-shirt is heavily starched cotton, stiff as a board

No, this t-shirt is made of denim.

No, this t-shirt is made of cotton linen

All 100% cotton t-shirts would feel pretty much the same to me.

As @stainlessenginecovers  posted, there is indeed different grades of cotton, pima being one of the softest, but if it was pima, it would say so on the label since that would be a high grade cotton

I have sensitive skin and can only wear soft fabrics, so it's possible that is the case with this buyer

A few days ago, I had a customer who told me she had Lupus and could only tolerate soft fabrics. She had a similar question regarding softness

For the answer, I would go by what you feel about the fabric and if you think it'll soften after several washings, but let her know it is just your opinion and may not necessarily be factual to her

Am I the only one that would block this bidder? I know it sounds mean, but...sounds like trouble

Its extremely rough cotton.  This is not the soft cotton that you are looking for.  Great day!  That's how I will answer the question.

I would look at feedback the buyer left for other sellers before deciding to block the buyer. If I didn't block, I would respond with the message I suggested in my first post which stated the buyer should not purchase the item if the buyer was expecting a T-shirt softer than the average 100% Cotton T-shirt.

Determine if the cotton is Pima or not. That is the "soft cotton" for tees.

Asking whether cotton is soft or not doesn't seem like an "unreasonable" question to me.... there might be a difference in softness between denim and terrycloth, or between flannel and gabardine.

Of course there are obvious differences in softness between different types of cotton fabric.

But  the would-be buyer is asking the seller to judge the softness of one specific type of fabric.  Relative to what?

IMHO offering an opinion and even speculating about softening after washing is just asking for trouble.

understood, but can also mean you are a kind person trying to help a buyer that may have sensitive skin issues, that's why i added 'seller opinion, not necessarily factual to buyer'

I think TMI can hurt rather than help when it comes down to buyer disputes. Sometimes less information is better.

Dear buyer,

The cotton I think you are  referring to is called Pima Cotton. It is very soft. I have looked at all the labels on this item and it does not state it’s made from Pima. This xxxxxxx is made from regular cotton and is of average texture.

thank you for your inquiry.
