Don't want to show that I've sold hundreds of an item. Ebay puts this info. twice in the listing. First where it asks you to select quantity it tells you how many have sold in last 24 hours. Then under the "Add to watchlist" button it tells you how many total have been sold along with the return policy and number of watchers.

The simplest way, but a lot more work, would be to list with fewer multiples.
For example, if you have 1000 identical items, you can list only 100 a day (since you are selling 86 a day).
Then tomorrow you can close that listing and relist as Sell Similar with a quantity of 100.
This should get around the ever increasing total, since this is a 'different' listing.
Should we assume that your customers buy more than one ball at a time?

Silly question, but why would you want to hide this? I have found that when I have huge stock of an item that the sales of them accelerate over time and you can often even increase the price without losing any sales as the listing ranks higher and higher over time and customers buy with more and more confidence seeing that so many others had already purchased the item.

I don't want potential competitors to know how many I am selling. I want it to remain a mystery so that they think it is not a very profitable thing to be selling.

Ending and creating a new listing may work, but I want the "See feedback" to remain for the items I have sold. If I do "sell similar" will there still be the direct link to the feedback for the items that have sold?

I think that if anyone else had a bottomless pit of used squash balls then you would already have a competitor with or without your listing. Yours ranking first from your massive previous sales would keep you on top anyway.

Tagging on:
End the listing. Instead of relisting it Use sell similar for a new listing will show zero sold.
And I'd raise the price.

lol...you know all they have to do is search for how many have sold, both by listing or terapeak, your "mystery" isn't such. Further...if you really want "mystery" then take the exact quantity off the listing and either sell one at a time or set it to show "more then 10" as available.
And it only gets worse since that conclusion...
...There is something about the rigid posture of a proper, authentic blind
As if extended arms reached to pass his blindness onto others.

That is likely not to happen. I've had things that sell quite nicely and most do not have but maybe one other seller that sells them. My price is slightly higher but the buyers tend to come to me, likely because I have all this experience with the item.
Don't over think things. That is a sure fire way to hurt yourself. 😍

This isn't like Amazon. Ebay does not compete with its sellers. I have however had something that sold very well for me on Amazon, no other seller was selling it for about a year and a half or more. Suddenly Amazon started selling the product for less than I could sell it for. Guess what happened to me.
But this site is not like that.

I am not sure what in my post implied that I thought ebay would directly compete with the original poster.
I think that the real thing is that no other ebay seller has a bottomless pit of used squash balls. Terapeak shows all you need to know, original poster sold 622 used squash balls in the last year with essentially zero competition.

How to hide number sold from listing
you used to be able to do it.......but can't find anything on new listing form to exclude that info.....
frankly, I think it "adds" credibility to the listing.......

Yes it adds credibility if I am selling something that many others are selling too. In my case I am the only one and prefer to keep it that way for obvious reasons. Anything I can do to obfuscate how popular these are is to my benefit..

Most people aren't savvy enough to search for completed sales. And I've been using ebay for 20+ years and never even heard of terapeak... By your logic all private info. should be explicitly made public since anyone could find it out anyways with some "work"...

Yes they usually buy between one and six at a time. four is the most common quantity. If I do "sell similar" with the feedback link still apply to this new listing? Suppose I may have to just test it and see..
