How to handle GTC listings ending

Is there any handy trick to keeping track of GTC listings before they relist? I NEVER pay insertion fees and now the past 2 weeks I have had probably 100 insertion fees because my listings ended on a weekend when I wasn't at the computer.

I know I could just check my listings every day, and I do during the week but then need to allow time to check them on the weekends. I'm just so p'oed that Ebay did this because they KNOW now they will get people like me who just don't check every day. Now it's 8 days into the month and all of my free listings are gone and I have tons of fees. Makes me so mad.

So since Ebay doesn't seem to want to change this, (I suppose I could call and complain, but really would it help?) is there any handy tricks people have for timing the ending of their listings? I check every day but then my listings inevitably end on the weekends (no idea why, I'm not listing them then). I would then have to end my listings 2 days early on Fridays every week, which would be doable I guess, and with the new policies for things renewing on the same day each month, at least I wouldn't be wasting too many days.

Any other way?

In seller hub, if you customize the page, it will show when the listing ends (rollsover) and/or the time left.

The only trick is to end listings before they auto relist.  If you are going to be busy on the weekends then end them on Friday.  You sell low prices items, as do I, so ending a listing a few days early isn't going to matter much and the money you save will be more than any potential income from a missed sale due to ending the listing a few days early.  You should be sorting your listings by "ending soonest" so it should be very easy to keep track of listings that are about to auto relist and end them manually.

Put your active listings in the order of ending first. Sometime before the countdown gets to zero you end the listings you do not want relisted. Let the others relist.

Keep your listings under your monthly limit.

I've used GTC since 2012 and never had to pay a listing fee.

I don't babysit my listings and I don't end them early, but I do manage them.

Have A Great Day.

If you have reasons you can't check in once a day to end listings, then end them when you can --- in your case, Fridays.  Do you not even check for questions or problems on the week-end?

You could also run the numbers and see if paying for a store would save you any money.

Along with the suggestions already offered eBay does have a couple features in the seller hub.

  • Look under the listings section and there is a link to listings ending today which will show only those listings for you to end quickly using the select all function then using the actions drop down box to end them.
  • In your active listing page you can use the "all states" drop down box to select either ending today or ending in the next hour.

Good Luck Selling!

Thanks. I probably shouldn't do a store... but I've thought about it, especially w/ the GTC changes.

I don't get on the pc during the weekend but I do things through the app on my phone. It's extremely hard to end listings or even check when listings in from my app which is why I don't use it to check on those kinds of things.

Cool, I didn't even notice the link to listings ending today, great feature!

I've already changed my listings to show how much time they have left.

I'm probably just going to have to make sure I check in on Fridays and just end any that are ending over the weekend. Thanks for the help all!

With over 200 listings, you should really consider having a store. Even a "Starter" store will allow you 100 free listings (plus the free lings promotions) for only $4.95/mo. It will lower your selling fees and cut out many insertion fees, thereby more than paying for itself. The "Basic" store is a bit mare at $27.95(?) and gives you 250 free listings + promotions and would eliminate all insertion costs for you. just do the math.

There is no need to check them every day.

If you check them on Monday and see that none of them are ending before Thursday, you can skip Tuesday and Wednesday and then check them again on Thursday.

After you end the listings on Thursday, simply check to see when the next listings expire. If none expire until the following Monday, you don't need to check them on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

It's not like they are going to suddenly change their renewal date.
