Hello sellers. When I did a listing on seller hub, I had easy to use shipping -- pick shipping form, add handling fee if appropriate, weigh etc. Now I have "Business Policies" section for shipping. It is very confusing and there is no way to add handling fee. How do I get back to the previous shipping entries on listing form ? Thank you for your help.

I see a space for adding the handling fee right on the shipping policy screen.

I always wondered about "handling" fees. Were you simply not going to "handle" it without getting paid to do so?

Handling fees are used to cover the cost of the box, packaging, peanuts, tape, ect. AND the 13% ebay charges on top of the shipping cost. A handling fee is how those expenses are factored in. This gets especially important as the shipping cost go up. It all depends on the item and the cost of the item.
The buyer is not shown the "handling fee" so it becomes a part of the overall shipping cost- as it is a part of the shipping expense. Industry standard practice.

Sorry, not "standard" for me. I write those costs off on my tax return, not burden my customers with it. But that's just me.

You can opt out any time by selecting the Opt out link on the Manage business policies page - opens in new window or tab. Your active listings won't be affected, but if you want to make changes to payment, shipping, and return terms, you'll need to do that individually on each future listing. You can also opt back in to business policies at any time; the policies you already created will still be there, ready for you to use again.

lol - not burden your customers with the cost of shipping what they bought....that IS just you- why not pay the customer to take your goods?- they would love that. you make no sense. Some people work the cost into the price of the item and that is fine too- in effect that is what you are doing then- you profit margin decreases with whatever the cost of the shipping/handling etc costs are. That works for some also/ to each is his own - just trying to point out that you had no reason to criticize the other person for wanting to use a handling charge.

A handling fee adds no burden to a buyer whatsoever.
A buyer sees vinyl LP #1, sees the shipping cost is $3.82, and buys it.
A buyer sees vinyl LP #2, sees the shipping cost is $3.82, and buys it.
One of them weighed 16.1 oz and shipped by media mail for $3.82, and one of them weighed 15.9 oz and shipped for $3.19 with a 63 cent handling charge.
So you would say that the buyer of LP #2 was "burdened" by the handling charge?

Whatever. I just don't pass on extra fees to my customers. I doubt I'm the only one. My customers pay for Actual shipping and that's it. Run your business any way you want to. That's how I run mine. I don't nickel and dime my customers. I also just do auctions, so maybe that's different.

Wasn't a criticism, but if that's how you see it, fine. I just never understood "handling" fees. I run only auctions, so that's a different scenario.
