Is anyone else having issues with Ebay forcing incorrect item specifics and "about the product" in computer sales? I have to constantly go back into an auction I list to double check as 9 times out of 10 they are adding information I did not enter in the specifics. For example there's a certain laptop model and if your in the computer business you know the same model number can be used for several flavors of that model with different specs. So ebay keeps adding in things like "Touch Screen" and naming the model GPU when in fact they are incorrect as I mentioned before many Laptops and All in Ones use the same model number with completely different specs. I spend more time then needed filling out all these extra "Item specifics" only to have ebay force in false information that I did not enter. Who do I even contact to stop this?

I have such issue many times. Last year I got a neg because of this. I had a laptop list with eBay prefilled specs. In the beginning, the specs were correct, i.e. without touchscreen, no backlit keyboard, but after I sold some, the prefilled specs were updated to touchscreen and backlit keyboard without notifying me. A buyer was very mad at me and left me a neg. I talked to eBay customer support and they promised to fix it, but after a few weeks, no change... Now for every list, I uncheck eBay prefilled information and manually fill out the specs.

There are MANY here who do not believe this! I realize we need money so I get the motive, but it IS happening and it's going to increase after June 1st. We've all been notified, but this'll be like taxes (1099-K) and the shock will be felt! Sellers still held responsible, ebay being creative with sellers' listings. We'd better brace ourselves.

This is yet another case of ebay placing and updating incorrect information into peoples listings, and then punishing the sellers account for their own errors.

And, this is one of the reasons why the TOS always says, in every updated version, that the seller has sole responsibility for the contents of the listing - to prevent any liability (and cost) from falling on ebay and why 'legal' gets the big bucks.

Well then maybe if listening to ebay gets you into trouble with ebay, perhaps ebay should stop trying to "help" sellers if thats going to end up damaging their account.
That isn't the kind of "help" we need from ebay.
Here, let us help you. oh you listened to us, we're going to suspend your account three days.
Who the hell needs that kind of help?

In fact it is happening today, buyers are not presented with the accurate shipping and VAT/Sales Tax. It happens several times that buyers submit best offer I accept and when the invoice lands in his inbox he/she realize they were tricked.
The other emerging issue I noticed happening lately is my listing location are re-setting automatically to United States of America, State of Dubai, City of Dubai (without a US postal code) .

I think it is about time eBay sellers go on strike and put their stores on vacation for a week without allowing any sales. eBay need to understand that sellers have a power greater than eBay power who doesn't own the inventory.
This happened with Etsy sellers and is paying off.

Yeah, we have a line in our terms and conditions listed on every page (not that, that matters as everyone seems to ignore sellers terms and just thinks they can get away with any rules through ebays buyer protection, which ebay seems to happily ignore and just favors the customer no matter what) but we have : "
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS please be aware of your country’s VAT (value added tax) as we are not responsible for custom tax."

Locations are being re-set???!!!??? WTH??? Why would they DO that? And before fixing it, they do something ELSE. This is a worrying thing. I wish I could understand what's going on. Maybe the people dreaming these things up are betting each other over the 'What If..." ? We're seeing the losers here. I wonder whose keeping score, cuz people here are losing.

I've been on the site in that category for 22 years and have been fighting the bad data eBay adds to listings. eBay has no idea how many things, like the laptop issue you are describing, that are different with many computer parts with the same general part number or model number. I posted about a part I could see in Seller Hub, I could revise, I could add quantity and the best part I could pay for the listing. However the Buyers could not see the part. The part is and older Intel CPU, SR1AM is the STEP Code which is really the accurate P/N. The model is E5-2630 V2. One eBay rep was kind enough to champion the finding of the reason why Buyers could not see this listing when they searched. Low and behold the IT dept. figured that I had the part in the wrong category, according to their system and it was working properly. I had the part in Enterprise Server CPU's. The eBay computer will only put that CPU in the PC CPU category. Here is the issue my part is for a Server, not a PC, an Enterprise system. So for entertainment I revised the category and put it in the wrong category and bam, Buyers are not free to purchase the wrong part they need. You know when a sale goes wrong because of the wrong category I'll take the hit for a defect and pay return shipping.
I have 4100 listing in computer parts and we have determined that 15% of these parts are not seen by Buyers for the exact reason I stated above. eBay should STAND AWAY FROM THE PROGRAMMING AND JUST LET US DO OUR JOB. The sad part is they just are not smart enough to see if they did that we would list more, sell more and pay more fees. They forgot how to sell organically. They are creating selling practices for the stock market not the growth of the platform. It really sad and getting expensive.
