How many items do we have currently running?

In SELLER HUB it shows we have 3,025 items listed. If we go out of that and then in to our STORE it shows 2,839 items listed. Any theories about this discrepancy? thanks for any comments

Do you use the OOS function in your inventory setting.  Meaning if you have a listing drop to a zero quantity, you listing stays active in your listing but not live for buyers to see.  So all you have to do when you get more stock is to update the listing with a quantity and it is live for buyers again.

I have this same issue and that is the difference.

@tallpalms

Do you have any variation listings active?  That could account for the discrepancy.  I use a lot of Variation listings myself, so I see a difference depending on what page I look at, but I'm not using a store front.  I just suspect its similar.

Like you have 200 listings, but 10 of those have 20 items each, so you have 390 items total across 200 listings.

I've been looking into this. Have not figured it out yet.

What I have figured out is all the listings are there in search - it's only the # that's off.

When I see it's off by 30 or 50 or 70, all those listings are there in my store and in search, but it's displaying a wrong # at the top of the page.

One poster said it had to do with old/stale listings, but I ruled out that theory on my own accounts.

For a while I thought it had to do with the # of listings renewing that day, but after monitoring for a couple weeks I ruled out that theory, as well.

EDIT TO ADD: I also ruled out the 'out of stock' and 'variation' differences mentioned by others.

It's not a universal issue. One of my accounts does not have this problem but another one of my accounts does.

Other things I've observed:

If I end 10 listings, the number on store/search will go down by more than 10.

If I add 10 listings, the number on store/search will go up by either more or less than 10, rarely 10 exactly. It's very inconsistent.

All this allows more than 24 hours for indexing.

I discovered variations are not a factor even though they used to be a few years back. I'll use some made up round numbers here.

Let's say I have 1,500 listings. 1,000 are variation listings. 100 are out of stock listings.

On my unaffected account I will see 1,500 listings in seller hub, and 1,400 listings in store/search. All exactly as it should be.

On my affected account I'll see 1,500 listings in seller hub, but a random number in search like 1,278. All 1,400 in-stock listings are there, but the number displayed at the top of the page is wrong.

I have pages of numbers in my notebook where I've been trying to track it, experimenting with different options adding and ending listings, and have not yet come up with any consistent results or any matching numbers to account for the discrepancy on the affected account.

At one time I thought it was variation listings too.  If you check sold items from a seller's list of listing, it does not take into consideration more than one sale on a variation by a buyer at a time.  So I thought this was the difference.  I quickly dismissed that because I have a lot of variation listings with lots of options.

If I take how many I show in the Seller Hub and subtract how many show in my Store.  The difference is EXACTLY the number of OOS listing I currently have.

How many items do we have currently running?

Above I said, "When I see it's off by 30 or 50 or 70, all those listings are there in my store and in search, but it's displaying a wrong # at the top of the page."

Several weeks back, completely disregarding the number at the top of the page, I saw some instances where the number of listings in search did not match the number of listings in seller hub. I hadn't seen that behavior since then and thought that part of the issue was resolved, but right now I'm seeing that mis-match again.

For example, on your account it says 2,833 at the top.

There are 48 pages of search results with exactly 60 items per page for a total of 2,880 listings.

Yet you said you have 3,025 listings.

On my one affected account right now it says 927 at the top.

There are 16 pages of search results with exactly 60 items per page for a total of 960 listings.

Yet my active in-stock listing count is even higher than that.

It looks like there are items missing in search, but I'll wager all of the listings are there and searchable by key words or category. I haven't drilled down that far into it because of how many listings I have on the affected account.

When I checked a few days ago the number of search results matched my number of in-stock listings even though the number at the top of the page was wrong.

Every time I dig into this the results are so inconsistent.

How many items do we have currently running?

This is due to an annual increase in system activity experienced during this period, which has caused processing delays.

Theory?  Who needs a theory?

I am reminded of that song from the 1980s:  "Don't worry, be happy."  😁

eBay is not responsible for:

This also applies to anything we examine or rely on which is displayed on our seller dashboards -- traffic, promoted listings, etc.

Can you give specifics about exactly where these numbers are?

I have notices that in some places,  eBay counts the number of items and not the number of listings and so a listing with a quantity of 3 is sometimes counted as 3 items and in other places is shown as 1 listing

Unlikely.  I can prove that at least for me the difference is exactly the number of listings I have OOS.

For anyone that wants to check it, you can see it on your Active listing page in the Seller Hub.  Then click on the tab for STATUS.

It isn't a glitch or bug.

Yes, it is.

I've been working on this for weeks. I explained above - in detail - how this is not answered by the number of out of stock listings on my affected account. Most sellers reporting this that I've looked into don't use the OOS setting.

@wastingtime101

I had the issue with the count display in my store being off by 1 - 10 for a long time. All the listings were there every time I checked, but the display was wrong.  Then, when we had the lag time with renewing listings at the end of last month, something happened, or maybe it is just a coincidence, but ever since then, my store count has been correct.

And it gets worse.  I just did a random check of 15 items from my inventory and found about 10 items that have -- for no known reason that I am aware of -- simply been removed by eBay.

I know that I did not delete them or un-list them.  They have simply vanished.  They are not in my active, ended or unsold listings.

It has never matched for me.

My theory is either its removed or hidden by eBay, or servers havent synced 100% across the board when some listings are ending and starting, its in its indexing phase.

I gave up on trying to figure it out. I solve it by when I do inventory relisting it will get relisted.

As long as my ebay count is less than my Vendoo/Inkfrog count I am ok. If its reverse it worst as theres an item I have not in my inventory system.
