How is it this is $0.00 funds?

See previous message about this issue.

So I'm reviewing all my sales in the past month or so with EBAY and I still don't understand how the total funds is so little.  I can only think that because I'm below standard that EB is taking more fees than normal.  Can you explain how I end up with 0.00 funds?  I'm going through all my "earnings" and this is a real wakkup call.  If I'm getting 0.00 funds then there's no need to be on Ebay.

Re: How is it this is $0.00 funds?

You knew there would be some fees.
You knew it would cost you something to sell your item.
You knew you the amount you would get would be less than what you would sell the item for.

Considering THAT......You sold your item for $14.00 and You received $11.54
How is that "eye opening"?
Looks pretty darn good to me

Maybe there is an error here, one that will likely get fixed with a burdensome amount of work on your part - Seems that's one of the benefits of selling here - and adding to your avg time spent per sale...

But, even if you get it fixed,  Let me tell you how this is truly a $0, and likely less than $0 sale. So looks like you sold this item for $14 with $7 shipping - Even if someone gave you this item and your cost of goods is $0, you lost money.

My guess is it took, bare minimum, 30 Minutes to source, inspect, take pictures, upload, create listing, fold, store,  retrieve, pack, and ship - also considering avg time spent price researching, revising, answering questions, etc - also considering avg time spent with glitches and problems like the one you are posting about...

So you netted $11.50(rounded) after shipping costs. Considering your time has got to be worth, bare minimum, $12 an hour, (which you can make ANYWHERE) that means that you netted $5.50 after accounting for your 1/2 hr of time.

So lets take that $5.50 and further degrade it by accounting for cost of goods(Lets say $2), gas, taxes, shipping material, avg risk, etc - That will likely put you at a bottom line of approximately $2.00 for that 1/2 hour of work...

Since you could have used that 1/2 hour working a part-time job making $12 an hour, that means you are $10 in the hole(minus taxes) without even considering the possible benefits of health insurance, 401K and paid vacation - For instance, new hire line workers at UPS make $21 and hour, plus 401K, health insurance and paid vacations - If you are physically diminished, Walmart greeters make $15 an hour plus 401K, health insurance and paid vacations.

You lost money on this sale, just like soooooo many other sellers here who dont properly account for time and expenditures and think everything is just rosy here...

You forgot something---working from home in my pjs---priceless.  You can put a dollar figure on everything.

yikes on the math.  You state that seller nets $11.50 on the sale.  You also estimate that seller spent thirty minute on this item - sourcing, packing, etc.  proceeds per hour would be 11.50x2, or $23.00.  Not sure how you even got to $5.50, as 11.50/2 is $5.75.

It always makes me chuckle a  little when I see posts addressing "what your time is worth". Unless you're actually paying yourself a wage (with all the associated payroll costs) you really can't figure in your time to the equation.

Not that I consider it a benefit by any stretch, but thats that's something available on many jobs these days...

What I can say, is I hope you are doing this to pad another full time or retirement income, because I cant see how you can keep food on your table based on your figures - If not, how are you covering health insurance at, bare minimum, $500 a month? I know some sellers here get food stamps and free health benefits at the tax payers expense and are perfectly fine with sitting at home in their PJ's because of that...

I'm sorry, I know math is difficult for some - You'll need to check your methods again to come up with an accurate assessment. The $5.50 comes from assuming the sellers time is worth, bare minimum, $12 an hr.

30 min would equal $6, so  $11.50 - $6 = $5.50 is the net accounted for time spent at $12 an hour...

Re: How is it this is $0.00 funds?

and beyond that..................................  I never figure in my time when considering "profit/loss".

My time is worth $0.00.

But then again, as I have posted before...................  "selling on eBay time" is not a loss but is a gain.

My eBay activities provide me with mental, and physical activity.

What?????? Ohhh man- How else can you possibly account for whether or not something is WORTH THE TIME invested? And the ONLY way to make a decision on whether or not a venture is viable. Everyone has a $$ amount they assume their time is worth - for some its $10 an hr and for others its $400 or more an hour - My time at the moment is worth $40 an hr. If you don't consider your time value, you can end up selling here for $2 bottom line per day thinking you got it all covered - Happy selling

Re: How is it this is $0.00 funds?

Whether it's "worth your time" isn't based on "how much your time is worth".

If I'm doing one activity for pay my time is worth WAY more than if I'm doing another activity (also for pay), but I happen to enjoy the lower paid activity more.

Why yes, yes I do.

And it seems others are of the same mindset.

Oh yeah - I forgot ebay was the only way to get mental and physical activity, and would be by far the most preferred way even if there was other ways to consider...

Sorry, though you may be part of the majority on these boards...the people making REAL money here are NOT of that mindset.
