How is it fair that

someone can order something and cancel and then refuse to agree to the cancellation that THEY ASKED FOR and the seller is stuck with a defect and a final value fee? I mean 10 friends could abuse this ridiculous policy to their advantage and get a competitor banned in quick order, I've had way too many people recently cancelling orders then refusing to agree to the cancellation request and these defects are wreaking havoc on my account, so what the heck am I supposed to do? none of the cancellations are my fault.

Did they pay before the asked to cancel? If not, used buyer requested to cancel and there is no defect.

Thats the problem they pay, I've already printed the label, not only do I have to wait for the refund for the label from USPS but at that point I have do their request cancellation and they just ignore it, it has happened to me twice in less than a week.

If you have emails through eBay that the buyer wants them canceled, and you still end up with a defect for those cancels call eBay and have them read the emails and remove the defects.

I hate photobucket right now... PS Answers given years ago may or may not be current now, please check with current posters to the boards to see if the information is still relevant.

Re: How is it fair that

What steps are you performing to process a buyer requested cancellation?  What reason do you choose?  I thought they had eliminated he option for a buyer to decline or agree.

My experience with doing this, especially if the buyer already paid, has been quick and easy.  I merely pick buyer requested cancellation and the refund goes through automatically.  Within minutes I receive an email stating it is completed and FVFs are refunded.  No defect when the buyer requests.

Re: How is it fair that

My theory fern is that they added the confirmation back into buyer requested because so many sellers were using it to get out of defects for issues they caused.

ive only had seller requested cancels so I'm speaking from what I read on the boards not personal experience.

Re: How is it fair that

You need to issue a refund before sending the cancel request, buyers are told in an email not to accept the cancellation if refund has not been issued.

Re: How is it fair that

You do not get a defect for a buyer requested cancellation unless you let the buyer know the item was not available to ship.

That hasn't applied for some years.

Cancel through eBay to refund and get the fvf credit at the same time.

Re: How is it fair that

How exactly did you do the cancelation?

If you do the cancelation through Ebay as buyer requested, the Paypal funds are automatically refunded as are FVFs. I did one as recently as two weeks ago and it everything was credited back to me in moments. Nothing for the buyer to confirm and no defects for me.

If a change was made because of scumbag buyers trying to get out of OOS defects , it has been made within the past two weeks.

Re: How is it fair that

There is no chance to get a defect if the buyer has requested cancelation.

Even if the buyer does not confirm within 10 days but you have refunded the money then you will get back the fees and no defect.

The reasons to get a defect are:

1. You cancelled a transcaction and you do not have any proof that buyer asked but you clicked as reason that buyer asked. The buyer does not accept.

2. You cancelled a transcaction and clicked that  you are out of stock.

3. You cancelled a transaction and clicked that buyer had an address mistake but then buyer called

ebay or reported you and gave proof of valid shipping adress.

Re: How is it fair that

I am beginning to think that unless it is done in the first hour, just wait 2 days, file non pay, and close after 4.

If everyone did this, then those with 2 or more would be blocked, and one less future problem to have to deal with.

Are you implying that it's "just a warning"? The buyer also left a note requesting I call them about information about a similar item a clear violation, here is a screenshot of the message though in any case.

I think so too based on the evidence--screen shots provided by several buyers of the screen showing they clearly asked to accept or deny. I asked the blues about this and they said the process is the same, the buyer is NOT asked to accept or deny and the explanation given is that the sellers must have initiated the cancellation on ebay Ireland....and that some of the other sites still use the old accept/deny process. 2 of the sellers are chinese sellers. OP isn't a chinese seller....
