How is a seller still listing new items with first class shipping? I only have usps ground available

Basically I am very much aware of the change over from First class packages to ground advantage. I am just baffled because there is a very large seller who sells some of the same items as me (lightweight household goods) and their listings pretty much all still show $5.99 First Class Shipping. This includes brand new listings. No matter what I do for a 12 oz package sent in a bubble mailer find a similar option for me. I get $6.30 usps ground advantage. Not a big deal but as a big seller with a shop do they have this option still available? I can provide screen shots but I am not sure what the rules are for identifying information and I am not trying to "out" anyone it's just mildly frustrating me! Any ideas? thanks!

Listing could be a 'relisted' listing so things don't change. Seller can also use their own listings when they list 'sell similar' and again, that would not change.

Doesn't really matter as 1st Class and GA are the same thing (except GA goes OVER 1 lb. so since the item shows 1st Class, means the item is probably under 1 lb anyway.

Paypal shipping, by the way, STILL shows 1st Class and GA as an option to 'buy/print' but the 'label' will ONLY come out (From the printer) with GA on it.

I ran across a listing the other day that still had "First Class Mail".

You can't ship First Class Mail.  It no longer exists.

Why worry about it?

First Class Mail still exists for letters and flats (AKA Large envelopes), and eBay lets sellers show those options in their listings, as First Class shipping, even though eBay does not sell postage labels for those service (and never has).  First Class package shipping no longer exists, not even for special customers; it was absorbed into Ground Advantage last year.

The eBay postage cost for a 12-ounce Ground Advantage package would be $4.87 - $5.62 depending on Zone, so I don't know where you're getting $6.30.

Thanks I'm not losing sleep over it I just was wondering how they still had that option. It's a $.50 difference possibly. $5.99 versus $6.50 (I said $6.30 by mistake) for a small seller even half a buck makes a difference.

Back when this change occurred we were told we had a limited amount of time to revise all our listings from 1st class to GA, but many didn't.  I always wondered what happened to those listings, but I guess if they didn't use calculated it seems they just renew as they were without a problem.  Of course they can only buy the GA for the packages.

Thanks. Perhaps they are old listing but the history only shows very recent dates. Not a huge deal just wish all the same options were available to all. It's a difference from $6.50 (I said $6.30 by mistake) to the lower $5.99 first class option which I don't have access too. It's fine I just found it strange that it seems everyone else with similar items also has the usps ground advantage and I thought first class option had disappeared for all.

Did the listing use flat rate shipping instead of calculated?  Is it an item that qualifies as a package?  They can enter any amount they wish if it was flat rate and they could be losing money when they buy the label.

Did it say First Class or First Class Package? Is the shipping Flat Rate or Calculated?

USPS First Class is a valid service for Letters and Flats which is why it's an option you can use on eBay. It might not be appropriate for items which exceed First Class size limits but it sounds like this seller wants $5.99 for shipping regardless of what it might actually cost (some lower, some higher).

It does seem to be that they may have entered a $5.99 flat rate and in that case they may be losing the .50 which is definitely their choice to make I just still can't do that on my end. When I go to flat rate and select shipping service there is no option for that even if I make the weight much lower. Oh well thanks for the reply!

This would make the most sense it seems. Perhaps they aren't creating truly new listings or somehow it's still an option for them using sell similar of older flat rate listings. Thank you!

Ok this would really help me greatly to figure out. I am looking at one of my own listings for a 12 oz item with dimensions of 9" X 7" X 4" and it's showing buyer pays $6.50 - 7.00 this is not prices with eBay discount.  Are the prices you are referring to with the discount if not I really need to figure this out to get the listing to show the prices you have mentioned. Please help I appreciate it.  Edit: I also looked at any of my listings for kitchen towels which all are 12 oz and below from my other account with same east coast zip code as me and all show shipping starting at $6.50

$6.50 is the retail price to ship 12 ounces to Zone 1.

As noted above, the eBay rate ranges from $4.87 to $5.62. If you want your buyers to see, and pay, the eBay discounted postage rate, then you just have to adjust your site preferences here:

https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf

However, remember that you will be charged the final value fee on whatever the buyer pays for shipping, which is why so many seller leave the rate set to retail, to serve as a built-in handling fee so they don't lose money on shipping.

Thank you, I think I will leave the shipping the same for now. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something I was missing. I guess the lowest price for 12 oz for the buyer without the discount is $6.50. If the other seller is showing $5.99 I assume they must be eating the .50cents or factoring that into their higher starting price which is just fine. I just wanted to know why they still had the first class option. Hopefully my question wasn't too annoying.
