I think a better question is "why would you refund a buyer after 90 days?

I'd also like to know how to refund after 90 days. The post office returned an undelivered parcel after 90 days and I'd like to refund the payment. The "send refund" option in Seller Hub is no longer available.

@vikingglogg @pozorbooks_uk I just had a buyer who asked if we would still refund as her client ordered the wrong model. She mailed the item back at her expense. She even offered to take a refund minus not only our original shipping, but to cover our ebay fees as well. It had been over 3 months since we shipped. I asked her for her Paypal username or email so I could issue the refund. I did and she received her refund within minutes.

Mine is not the same problem, but close enough to see if I can get an answer here. How to I issue a refund to a buyer who will be returning the item he purchased? I know enough to wait until it arrives. Then, since eBay now handles fees (instead of PayPal which I cancelled because of the new system), I don't exactly know how best I can do this quickly and easily. Any advice?

@micmac0210 Once you get the item back, on your Seller Hub go to Orders paid and shipped and click. Find the item click the drop down arrow for menu, you should see Send Refund. Click that and follow the prompts.

@pozorbooks_uk Did the buyer request a refund? If yes, there should be prompts to follow. Make sure ebay hasn't automatically refunded the buyer. You can try: on your Seller Hub go to Orders paid and shipped and click. Find the item click the drop down arrow for menu, you should see Send Refund. Click that and follow the prompts.

Will try it but my buyer never received the item so let's see how it goes. Appreciate your response and answer.

After 90 days the order is archived and in the seller hub it doesn't have the drop down menu so there is no Send Refund option. You can copy/modify/paste a link to the "Send Refund" page from another order but that still doesn't work as eBay won't allow refunding after 90 days.
eBay's help states: You can issue a full or partial refund for items in Seller Hub or My eBay up to 90 days after the original transaction.
but doesn't state what to do after 90 days and there doesn't seem to be a way around it.

I am a buyer and I returned a package which Royal Mail lost ( long story!) but I got the package back after 3 months and successfully returned it again. They now have the goods AND my money but are unable to refund due to the 90 days clause with ebay. I contacted Paypal and that was no good because " i had received the package" I am now £259 down AND I dont have the goods. Ebay really need to be more flexible when things go wrong through no fault of the Buyer or the Seller. Iam now completely at a loss how to get my money back.
