How do I receive payouts without an active bank account? Do prepaid debit cards work?

My checkings account is currently closed but my savings is open. I doubt ebay sends the money directly to the savings account. Is there any way around this? Do Walmart reloadable debit cards work to receiver payouts?

In order to receive your payouts you need a verifiable checking account.
Update your checking account details for payouts

Your linked bank account must be a personal or business checking account. It can't be a savings account.

I've seen posters mention the WM green dot cards work to receive payouts.

eBay sent money to my savings account before until I switched it to Checking.

99% sure just enter your savings account information and it will be there..

Specifically, eBay sent the money to my SoFi savings account, then I switched the info to Checking.

Before you listen to anyone that they definitely won't do it, they did it in my case..

The instructions are pretty clear.  There is NOT work around for them.  You either do it Ebay's way or you will not be able to sell here.  If you try to work around the requirements you will on cause yourself additional problems.

Please review the below link carefully. It contains very important information as to how Ebay needs to see the information you provide them on your account. It is likely easier to change your Ebay account to match your bank account if you find there to be a difference.

NO.  It has to go to a BANK and it has to be a Checking account.  That is the LAW, not just a requirement of Ebay.

@xzmpt16-5

That's what I have used for 7 year and yes eBay accepts it, but it needs to be a checking account with a routing number and account number.  Green Dot bank. Apply for one on line and get paid.

They may have allowed it at one time but they don’t allow payouts to savings accounts anymore.

Well, I am inclined to agree that eBay rules says you can't put it into a savings account yet they did it for me in April

I'm not sure maybe SoFi savings works as a checking account since it has both a routing/account number.

Good luck!

There are some banks, especially credit unions that a savings account actually as the same account number as the checking account.  Otherwise how would Ebay of even had your savings account number.  Could be a bank error and not an Ebay error.  But the good thing is you did get your money.

I have the reloadable Walmart money card and it’s apparently issued by Green Dot Bank. When I go to the Walmartmoneycard website and sign into my account it says Green Dot Bank and it has a direct deposit account number and routing number. When I try to link it on eBay it gives me an error.

Yes my credit union has my savings and my checkings as the same account number. I don’t know if eBay knows my savings or not. I just know a lot of organizations can only deposit money into your checkings.

@retrogames10000 Just to be clear, could you write checks on that savings account?

Because eBay is requiring an account they can pull money from if necessary.

And here in Canada a debit card is a checking account. You can't have a debit card that is not attached to a bank account. And it won't work if there is no money in the account.  Basically a debit card is an electronic checkbook.

A credit card doesn't have to be attached to a bank. It's based on faith and your credit report.

Is that not true in the USA?
