Long story short: I sent the wrong item to a buyer, he opened a return and shipped the wrong item back while I sent him the correct item. This was about two weeks ago. The return case was just closed 3 days ago.
I didn't get around to picking up the returned item at the Post Office until an hour ago, but they looked everywhere and couldn't find it. They said having the tracking number would help, but I just spent a good 20 minutes searching EVERYWHERE here in Ebay to find that, but the 'return case' is closed and there's no way to get any details of the return.
Anyone know where (maybe in Seller Hub) where the tracking number of a label that Ebay created might be?
This is really stupid. All details of the return should stay visible to the seller at least for a while.

I'd start by Messaging the buyer, explaining the problem and asking for the tracking number.
If you leave the package for "too long" without picking up, the carrier (not just USPS) will either return it to the sender or dispose of it.

Thanks, but I'm actually trying to avoid further conversations with the buyer.
I stand by my original statement - to not allow the details of a return to remain visible for at LEAST a few days is ridiculous. The minute this case was closed, all the information just disappeared.

Not sure where that link is from, but see attached jpeg to see what I see when clicking on it:

You should be able to find the return case on this page:
https://www.ebay.com/sh/ord/return
You can use the drop-down lists to show Closed cases, and filter by time period (up to the last 18 months) or by buyer name.

If it is not in seller hub under the order tab drop down menu (Returns).
This is your list of sold items that the public can see from your feedback
profile you should see it there.
Solds
If it is and you are logged into your seller account if you click on it
there may be a link to the return near the top. If not you should be
able to get the item number or the name from there to try a search
from the link I gave you.

Good choice on where to look. Unfortunately, all links under "closed returns" takes me to the last page of the return (same as all other attempts) where it is "closed" with no option to get any other details.
I'll say it one more time. The return process in here is a MESS.

Unfortunately, the only item I can dig up is the original item number of the original order. I already know that number. It doesn't send me anywhere near the return.

Once the return is complete, the tracking number can no longer be found.

Go to Order Details. Select “track package”. (This will bring up the order tracking for “order “ and the “return tracking number “ for the return.

I know this thread is almost three years old now but to answer the question anyway:
Look in your off-Ebay email account where you receive copies of Ebay notifications and you should find at least one showing the tracking number of the return label that was issued.
