Over the years at different times I've listed & sold items on eBay. There have been with often long periods of time in between.
I've had this account since Oct of 2003. I had an account before this when I was in College between 1995 & 1999 and it was hacked in around 2000; I don't recall if starting a new account and closing the previous one had to do with.
I listed some items in the last 6 months and missed the fine-print about " free listings ".
In the middle of it I had some sort of eBay buyer - troll - type accusing me that I never had the items to begin with.
Which since he claimed he was going to report me to eBay I thought that I had to provide proof of ownership to the PM conversation - because I thought that eBay was or would be monitoring this. Without showing off my bank account, physical location, store where I purchased these - it's easier said then done to do so - time consuming.
When I bring this up it's to bring context to the situation - meaning that I was under a time crunch and didn't investigate all failure points to listing these items on eBay.
So I was partially distracted while trying to sell these items and perceived that I was not being charged for anything.
Long story short is after listing 4 items - none of which sold - eBay want's $281
Is there any sort of arbitration process in the current May 2021 eBay account?
It used to be that one could call the Dispute Resolution Center (if I recall the term correctly).
Is there any way to talk to a human about buying/ selling/ listings these days?

I'm considering letting my eBay account go but would prefer not to given how long I've been one here.
Is there some a physical address that I can write to?
Is this the sort of thing that a letter from legal counsel can solve?

What exactly was the charge on the invoice?

I'm not clear on what the fees your are being charged are for. Your invoice should describe them. Did you list using a reserve or did they sell and the buyer didn't pay? You are given so many free listings per month, but there are ways to be charged something (upgrades, reserves). I believe you can use the help & content button to attempt to talk with someone.

Store fees?
Reserve fees?
What are the fees for?
Even if you don’t sell a single item, you are still responsible for the above fees.

Is the $281 all for 1 month? Or are you saying you owe this over the past 6 months? (sorry, cannot discern from your post - 6 mos would be a long time for e-Bay to wait for their monies....)
So I was partially distracted while trying to sell these items and perceived that I was not being charged for anything.
But you would have fees other than listing fees, even if the listing fees were free. ??

yes, you can call CS...........or you can ask on Ebay for business Face book page..........
Frankly, assuming all this is 6 mo old and since you haven't made any effort to pay or to get it resolved, they may tell you it's too late..............pay or you won't be able to use the site.

$271 was in the month of January.
Apparently they were described as " End Auction -style listings early Fee " - I thought w/ no bidders and 12 hrs before auction close you could end the listing/ auction
When I had the time to look into this last I didn't know there was a phone number to call - from what I had read there was no more phone number to call.
Ok time to did up that phone number to call - wait I tried that and got nowhere last time I had the time to do anything about this back in January

w/o incurring
more eBay Fees
This is a weird situation to be in... I'm feeling like just saying good bye to eBay since 1998...
It's like "... pay us $271 or else ..." and what does that equate to?

Boy, this is a bite. You will have to pay ebay the owed fees, no getting around that.
What was the items you dismissed early on the auction? High dollar amounts?

Limited edition early release snowboards

What that equates to is eBay sending the debt to collections, impacting your credit rating.
If you haven’t paid a January invoice, you’re about out of time.

Ahhh, thank you for getting back.
Well at least your fees are doable, there's another thread on that the OP owes over 1k in fees, Yikes!
Best to you.

Sounds as if the bots that "read" Messages mistook your discussion with the troll as a negotiation for an off-eBay sale.
Your best bet is probably to deal with this through Facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/eBay/
The customer reps there seem to be better trained and have more authority than the poor souls on the phone lines.
BTW - In future, do not discuss where you obtain your stock with anyone short of a VeRO case. At the least you are giving a competitor access to your suppliers and your costs.

As far as I know, you can. I've ended a ton of auctions early (without bids) for various reasons and I've never been charged a fee.
IMO, the eBay CS reps on Facebook are fantastic.
