How can I restrict selling just 1 item per buyer?

I have an item with 100 units but don't want to sell more than 1 unit for the same buyer (or at the same purchase).

How can I do that?  Thanks.

Re: How can I restrict selling just 1 item per buyer?

I think you didn't understand, I already explained that and I didn't say that the buyer cannot buy other items, I just want to avoid him buying the same item more than once a month.

I want to restrict my losses. You only have profit After 1+ month (return period). I prefer many buyers to buy 1 piece than a few buyers buying a lot of (repetitive) pieces because most of the time they are thieves that will ask for a refund. You only have profit after all the buyer protection options have expired and that is much longer than 30 days. Not sure  what factual data you are basing your claim on that "most of the time they are thieves"

e.g.: suppose you sell iPhones, what's normal? 1-buyer buying 1-phone, or 1-buyer buying 10-phones? I'm sure that it's not a reseller (because of the low margin), I'm sure that is a scammer that will open all types of refund requests, and eBay Protect and Love the Thieves. That logic applies from both sides. If I am a paranoid buyer I would question why one seller has 10 IPhones for sale in the first place. Maybe they are stolen or counterfeit.

Re: How can I restrict selling just 1 item per buyer?

Do you really believe that is common for a buyer to buy a new phone every month?! What are the probabilities?!

Maybe 0.001% of people buy a New phone every month, and 99.999% of the people will buy a new phone more than 1 month later (maybe several months).

This is so easy to understand, I really don't know why you insist on this argument. LOL

ps.: I NEVER said block forever, I said, forbid to buy for 1-month (after the return period)

Are you actually selling phones? Where did you get 100 phones?

For me, it's not the buyer who raises red flags!

You are overthinking this.

Re: How can I restrict selling just 1 item per buyer?

Most buyers are honest and in over 5000 transactions, I've had 2 scammers. (And both buyers only purchased 1 item from me.)

I think is hard for you to understand. Remember when I said: "0.001% of people buy a New phone every month, and 99.999% of the people will buy a new phone more than 1 month later"

0.001% means "Few People are Dishonest"
99.999% means "Most People are Honest"

All big supermarkets have a 2%-3% of robbery, just because seems "low" for you, they don't need to invest in security?

All credit card companies want that the customers spend a LOT of money to pay more fees. So why do they put a Limit on the Credit Card???

Look, this is MY personal decision.

As has been explained, 30 days is only the dispute timeframe for ebay. Paypal allows 180 days as do most credit card companies.

Yes, I agree, but you still do not understand, if I LIMIT the SELLING, this means that the rogue buyer just bought 1 item (in 1, 3, 6 months, my choice), this guy has a short life on eBay (maybe will be blocked in a few weeks), and PayPal is a little more rigorous than eBay, the buyer really needs to Prove that he is correct. (but as I said, in a few weeks this guy will be blocked everywhere)

Re: How can I restrict selling just 1 item per buyer?

Interesting you managed to come up with 100 phones. I would be more concerned about a seller selling that many phones. Hopefully you are not on ebay's radar. Also you never said the items you are restricting buyers to purchase was phones. If you are going to start a topic it is best if you do not leave out important information if you want better answers.

Re: How can I restrict selling just 1 item per buyer?

May be Ebay is not a right place for you to sell your quantities of the same item. I don't think Ebay would even entertain the idea of restricting the Buyers: one item per buyer! EBay emphasizes on repeating Buyers, not restricted Buyers. As somebody already suggested in this post to work your way around, more likely you won't offset your loses and low profit margin this way.

If you have to make up your own rules to sell on eBay, maybe eBay isn't the place for you?

Re: How can I restrict selling just 1 item per buyer?

1. The "refund" period is much longer than 30 days.  Paypal gives 180 days and so do some credit cards.

2. If you really feel like that about eBay, why would you be selling here at all? Certainly there are other sites to unload your merchandise.

And, really, unless you have another ID as a seller, you don't have enough information about eBay to be safe selling here.

JMHO.

List one item.

After it sells,  list another.

Rinse and repeat.

Have you checked your listing limits?

You really need to edit that post, deleting the sentence that starts with "Look . . ."

Blocked everywhere? You do understand there are more than thirty million sellers on Ebay, with over 1.5 billion listings, and a million sales a day. So no, this guy wont be blocked 'everywhere'.

I agree, some people here don't care about the question, just in "investigate" the questioner.
