Yes, sellers can make a profit if they acquire/list/price/sell things properly.

Many small sellers who thought they were making money here, will get a shock when they see that IRS Form that eBay is required to send anyone who grossed $600 or more annually.
They will make their deductions and find out they have a moneysucking hobby.

Not to mention they hold your money for 30 days while the buyers uses or breaks your items and decides later they don’t want or it don’t work and then you’re screwed out of your product and money!! They need to re evaluate these practices or eBay may not be around too much longer!! I was charged a fee of $175 so once I shipped the item my payout was less almost $500!

Hi @eleanor-joan , I see both your current listings are sponsored, so you will also pay a commission to eBay to promote your items, in addition to the usual Final Value fee. Then i see you use free shipping. Are you rolling all those costs into your price? That is how a seller is going to turn a profit (as long as he/she also sources his/her items at attractive rates).

It all factors how you posted and if you added any additional services. There is a fee when something sells + .30 cents, shipping fee, taxes and if you offered to give eBay promoted fee's. The key also factored is the purchase price & your listing price so their is a lot of missing facts to answer the question 100%.

New and occasional sellers have their customer payments Held against their performance.
Until you've been selling for 90 days and sold 25 items your payments will be held until tracking shows delivered, or in 21 days if there's no tracking. They can hold the payment for the full 21 days if you're selling in a high risk category.
If you are a non-US seller that 21 days becomes 30 days, because we furriners ain't to be trusted.
You can use the Held funds to buy shipping labels and eBay does offer a small discount on those.

What is it that is too high for you? Your post was short, so tell us more about the problems you are facing on Ebay.
Are you using Promoted Listings? If so at what rate?

When I sold on eBay made certain that the buyer paid all my costs (item, eBay fees, shipping, packaging, etc.) plus my expected profit margin.

I read that but it doesn’t mean it’s right or that I agree. My item was deliver 2 days later and tracking info was provided and so the acct reflects that the item was delivered still my funds are being held until 11-09. eBay explained they do this for high priced items, however, that’s who usually gets scammed, the sellers of high priced items. I won’t be using the platform anymore because it’s too much fine print for my liking. You get paid quicker off a car sale on Carvana…geesh

@eleanor-joan wrote:With Ebay fees so high how can anyone make a profit?
I make a profit because I choose inventory where fees and costs leave me with a profit.
All I use is elementary school math.

You agreed to it when you listed the rims.

Your agreement (to what you read) was inferred when you listed here.

I am selling since 2011 and the transaction fees have gone up to a ridiculous amount of 13.30% , leaving very little room for profit
