Did you mean:

High Value Item Damaged with global shipping program

Order valued just over $2000. Buyer initially started a claim for the damage. They provided photos of the damage. Claim was eventually closed and funds released. Now a dispute was opened with their financial institution, but with item not as described. Any ideas as to what is to be done here? I was under the impression that I am not held liable in cases where something gets damaged after being shipped out of the global shipping center.

Did GSP refund them for it?    If so you can reply to the new case they have been refunded already.

Well I think that since a dispute with payment institution was started, my guess is they weren't...? Not sure.

Payment institution is a Charge Back. GSP is supposed to cover, but they are on their way out while ebay changes over to their own 'IS' so it's hard to say if they will cover.

The protection for "INR" or  "damaged in shipping" were specific to eBay claims.  They did not extend to  Payment Disputes (aka chargebacks).

eBay does offer seller protection for chargebacks if you won the original eBay claim, and the subsequent chargeback is for THE SAME REASON.    Though damaged in shipping, is related to  and is a"not as described" issue, it will be interesting to see if eBay holds up their end of the program or throws you under the bus with their usual "it is the credit card company and there is nothing we can do" mantra.

As suggested upthread, it may be prudent to find out if the buyer was already refunded through the GSP, and is trying to "double dip" on a reversal.

the protections associated with a Global Shipping Program shipment are for eMBG requests only.

Since the GSP is being discontinued, the same question was asked of eBay staff regarding the new replacement program.  Though we got a "verbal" yes to the Payment Dispute protection for the new program in the Q & A, there is no such declaration in the policy pages nor the Terms of Use.

IF the chargeback goes against you.........be sure to appeal it .......they should cover it......I would think....
