Here's an issue that needs an explanation?????????

I have an item listed under "GLASSWARE" and the price is $42.50 If you put the description in the search engine another one pops up and the price is $79.00 and there are 24 "Watchers", then when you scroll down there is another one for $68.00  and no "Watcher" and then scroll all the way to the end of the items listings and mine doesn't show at all??? I checked all 3 and they all have the same entry in the "Item Description" and they all have the same category selected??? I have looked at all 3 entries and there is no explanation why the first item has 24 "Watchers" and another one that is asking less has no "Watchers" and my item that is $36.50 less than the highest price doesn't show at all??? bubba

Yours is the best response as it's states the truth, there is a mired of reasons why people buy a higher priced item but most do not make sense when the choice is between 2 exactly the same items and the other factors are the same, shipping amount, sales tax, insurance amount and a sellers feedback. The sellers return policy is a moot point because the buyer & ebay decide that issue. bubba

"OK that might explain that phase (item not showing) but how does anyone explain an item listed directly under another one (same search) and there are 24 watchers for the expensive one and no watchers for a cheaper one?? This is something that I see all the time, are "Watchers" not scrolling for a less expensive one? why would anyone not do this when there are multiple listings of the same item?? bubba"

I have noticed that eBay always brings up the more expensive items first, even though I search using lowest price. I (now that I am wise to this) always scroll down to the similar items at the bottom of a listing page. EBay does NOT show all items right away. It's not fair to you sellers at all, but it is what they do, and have for years.

As for that, your return policy contradicts eBay's return policy - if you take returns, you take returns for buyer's remorse, as well.  I doesn't matter how mad you get over it or how long you've sold here, that's the way it is on this site.

But, I don't think it has much to do with watchers, anyway.  I always wonder why someone will sell the same brand I do for twice as much - who knows - because it's eBay, because the month starts with a Q and the moon is blue? I don't really even pay much attention to watchers - I've seen stuff run for two months with 15-20 watchers - half of them have probably forgotten they even put the item on their watch list.

Maybe you have been here for 22 years, but you still don't seem to understand what offering a return policy covers.  You do have to allow for remorse, which is basically what a return policy is for.  Stating in your description that you do not allow remorse returns is contrary to your return policy.   A no return policy means you can deny a remorse return.

Of course if an item is not as described it is covered by ebay's MBG return policy and can be returned regardless of your return policy or lack of one.   This is completely separate from your return policy.

Well maybe buyers don't like the "insured at buyer's expense" line? Most buyers also don't expect to wait for invoice.

I think @vintage-car-magazines has hit the nail on the head.  Have you noticed it with other covert listings?

Nobody can give you a solid answer without know what the product is so we can test different search keywords. Also, if the other listing have been relisted, the watchers don't fall off. They continue to add up even after the listing gets renewed. So if those other listing have been up for, let's say, 6 months, it will show the total number of watchers in those 6 months total.

But again, all just an assumption since we can't compare the listings.

Check to see if your listings are even showing. I have over 150 listings, many with multiple variations. I get between 30-200 orders a day. I couldn't figure out why some days there were no orders so I went into my store & clicked on items for sale & it shows 0.

This has happened at least 4 times that I know of. I email customer service & get a form letter type response. No explanation why this keeps happening, what is being done to prevent it in the future & just what they are going to do to make up for my lost sales. I get nothing back from them. then slowly, my listings start populating 1 at a time.

I am more than concerned. They can't manage to get my listings to show & now they want to manage my money as well with Mananged Payments?!?! I am losing any confidence I had with EBay right now.

That statement has been removed for all 260 items I have listed, it was a carry over from 15 years ago when there was a lot more issues with bad buyers. In todays ebay putting "NO RETURNS" in your description is a waste of space as returns are not decided by the seller it's decided first by the buyer them ebay enters into the return if the seller refuses to honor the return. bubba

I just posted the fact that all the statements about buyers remorse in my descriptions have been removed from all 260 of the items I have listed. NOW, do you feel better, I except all returns even if I know it's buyers remorse, so there you have it. Again I have enjoyed this conversation especially with the experts. bubba

I have now done all that to save you the time and understand 2 of the 3 issues, I am gaining on it so stay tuned. One can't learn a thing if you let someone else do all the work. One thing I did learn is the ebay posting system has to many variables when it could be made a lot simpler by smarter programmers. bubba

It could also be their following. those watchers have interest in their stuff. Someone they’ve bought from before and had good experiences with.
