Here is the solution to the problem sellers are complaining about regarding GTC listings.

I noticed that many people are complaining that they do not want some of their GTC listings to renew because they do not want to pay the renewal fee.

I did not think of this idea, but it seems logical to me.  All the seller needs to do is NOT  LIST MORE ITEMS THAN HE/SHE IS ALLOWED TO LIST AT NO CHARGE.

For example:  A seller with 50 free listings would not list more than 50 items.  A seller with 250 listings at no charge would not list more than 250 items.  That way, the seller would not have anything relisting automatically that would have a fee charged for the relisting.

The problem would be when eBay gives some extra free listings as they have often done in the past.  If a seller uses some of those extra free listings, and if the seller has already used up all of his/her listings at no charge, the seller would have to cancel all of the free listings before the end of 30 days to avoid having to pay a relisting fee on them when they automatically relist.

So, if the seller does not want to cancel those free listings to avoid a relisting fee, the seller can just not use any of those free listings.  A better solution to the problem, in my opinion, would be for eBay to never offer any extra free listing.

BUT what you're forgetting is that if a seller has a free listing promo, any GTC that roll over will come off the promo freeing up some listing slots.

Why should sellers who actually "manage" their accounts be penalized with no free listings because some sellers can't seem to?

Reality is the leading cause of stress.

That is only a part of the problem. I don't use all my allowed listings. But I am still suffering from this. My sales have historically been about 20% higher than in March. Right now I am 5% below March and 20% below this time last year. If it was not for the sale of one particular item it would be way worse.  Think about it this way. If all auctions were forced to run out to 30 days. You would not be too happy. When I was listing at the shorter duration.  People would see that the listing was about to expire and they would want to get it before the listing disappeared.  Just like in an auction I wait until the end to place my bid. Most of my sales were in the last few days of the listing. That has been taken away. Now instead of the prospect of missing the item it is wait and see. And the only sales that are coming are towards the end of the 30 day listing instead of the 10 day. One of the biggest selling tools has been taken away. Impulse Buying.

Impulse Buying.  That sense of urgency.  Get it while it's hot and all that.  Before it goes away, maybe forever.
