Help! not getting views, and hardly any sales. I'm "selling similar". I'm promoting, I'm discounting

Help! I'm not getting views, and hardly any sales. I'm "selling similar". changing wording, and pictures. I'm promoting, I'm discounting. I'm relisting some items, but  I'll wait about 2-4 weeks from when they expire... not relisting right away.  I'm adding new items.   I'm just not selling. I know what I sell (mostly clothes) aren't the best sellers right now, but I have other items. I search other sellers...I see apparel and clothing are selling.  I write down my views and watches (I'm getting so I don't trust eBay  views and watches numbers) and I see days that my views and watches stay the same. I'm a top rated seller w/ 100% positive feedback.  During this pandemic and stay-at-home- time, I don't know what I'd do without eBay...selling is something for me to do. But I am really discouraged! And we can't even talk to someone at eBay.  How do I get views on my items?   (Thanks for listening to my venting)

Here are my suggestions, take them or leave them.

In one listing I saw size Med or size L or size P. Spell the words out. Change that to Medium or Large or Petite. If someone is size Large, they will use the search term Large, they won't search for L.

I saw another listing you had size 10- . That extra dash might prevent your listing from showing up when someone looks for size 10.

Go through all your listings to make sure the sizes are searchable, and take out random dashes.

Your pictures look terrific, and you do a great job of including measurements in the description.

Good luck.

I really don't think folks are looking to buy much in the way of clothing and accessories while they are spending most of their time at home.

I know what I have been selling for the past three months is very different from what I normally sell at this time of year - my crafts and bookstore accounts are doing 2-3 times better than usual - sports clothing and most collectibles are a tough sell.

You have great pictures and nothing looks overpriced.  Maybe it's slow because the clothing season is changing or people are just staying home in PJs.  I'm sure it will pick up as the lock down loosens up.

Hi, took a look at your listings and had a couple of thoughts.

You already know that clothing is a saturated market on eBay, and the stay-at-home measures have taken their toll as well.

Ebay is a brand-centric platform, and as such, lesser-known brands are a harder sell. I noticed you have sold the well-known brands more recently, like Chico’s, Vera Bradley, and Coach. The brand name is the keyword that shoppers use most frequently and what draws buyers into one’s listing. So when sourcing goods to sell, keep that in mind.

But for now, you must rely on other keywords to sell the more generic goods. So things like color, cut, price, style, size are important. You have done a really good job at doing this. If you could just get the traffic, your listings will surely sell themselves. With that aim in mind, following “best practices” could help. See link below for more info.

One best practice involves returns. As a clothes seller, not offering returns could possibly drop you in Search results, and turn away potential buyers. Having no returns is your prerogative and you know best what works for you. I have to say that truly, on eBay, there is no such thing as no returns since a buyer can select Item Not As Described and force one onto a seller. Plus you may get a boost in Search by having a more buyer-friendly return policy.

Titles need to be free of punctuation so they can get picked up by search engines. Having good SEO could improve traffic to your listings. See link below for more info.

I'm "selling similar"

I'm guessing that you aren't using the GTC's.......rather that you are canceling and relisting before the 30 days is up?

It might pay to try leaving the items up for several cycles....ebay favors that......so could be you would get more sales.  As said, many, many aspects to selling.....but if some don't seem to work, it can pay to try others.....

Clothing is super tough right now. Im finding $35 retail shirts for $5 right now. People stuck at home dont need new outfits to sit at home. Food, games, sports stuff, anything to teduce boredom at home is going crazy.

Most of my listings are GTC and many do extend past the 30 days. But I've read where eBay will put GTC listings that roll over to the bottom of their search engine. So when I can. I stop GTC listings that have no watchers ...then relist later. I'll definitely leave any that have watchers to continue for another 30 days. There are a lot of aspects to selling here, and I'm trying them. I just think I'm not getting views.

I know clothing is tough right now. I'm hoping as businesses open up, people will want clothes...and many of my clothes are are relists or sell similar. But I guess I should get those box of games I have out. People don't seem to have my taste in books. so mine keep getting relisted. Thanks for replying

Looking through a couple of pages of your clothing I see a lot of evening/cocktail and fall/winter.

Try increasing your spring/summer inventory to stay in season.

Generally listings aren't considered 'stale' until they hit about the 90 day mark, other than that, leave them running.

Listing the games is a good idea.

Books are a very, very tough sale here because the huge booksellers and sell and ship a book for less than a little player like myself can even ship one.  I don't have "popular" books either.  People who do well know a lot about bookselling and know what to list, as well as having a great inventory/inventory source.

On the note of pictures...

I am not sure if this is still true but I was taught to always use all 12 slots, and I still do.

So, use all 12.

Yes it might help.

When it comes to getting view, IMHO by far the most important thing is whether people are interested in your items. It could simply be that your items have very little demand right now.

That might explain why seller rating, feedback, pictures, wording, promotions, and discounting are not helping.

Thank you for your thoughts. I appreciate them. I relist my fall/winter/ cocktail stuff because I don't want eBay to drop them. When the listing expires, I usually let them sit in unsolds for 60 days, then mass relist them. I want to not have to rewrite them. I've never been sure if eBay holds unsold items for 60 or 90 days, so after 60 days, I'll relist. Do you know if it's 60 or 90 days?

Don't know whether you are using a phone or computer, but ...

-You should be saving all your pictures to your own named file or even a thumb drive.  Make a file with an identifying name and store.

-You can save your written subscriptions to similar files.

NEVER depend on anyone or anything else to keep your hard work.
