I've had caption on my TV for 15-20 years, I can hear talking but depends on the person tone as to if I can understand what they are saying.
So when I call Ebay CS I always get ebay Asian CS. I always apologies to them that I can not understand half of what they are saying. Therefore we can not solve any problem I have.
When I ask to be transferred to USA CS they say they can not do that. So I have to hang up and try again until I get someone I can understand, which may take 3-4-5-etc tries.
This is ridiculous, ebay is not the only company who does this. Its discrimination against the hearing impared.

You can also contact eBay via Twitter:
In addition to the eBay Facebook page @bonjourami posted, if you're a seller, ou can also contact them by sending a message on the eBay business page:
www.facebook.com/ebayfor business
So there are three ways to contact eBay:
Two of the three are hearing-impaired friendly, so . . .

Some sellers & buyers choose not to be on Facebook & Twitter.

Some issues are more easily handled by verbal interaction than by written communication.

HI, Charlys. If I go to an ebay Help page, at the very bottom it gives you a choice to have them telephone you back...and they will call you back...and usually within less than an hour...I do this during a business weekday and between 10 am and Noon...and I have always received a call back from a U.S. Rep. Never from anyone Overseas. Hope this helps.

For those suggesting contact ebay thru Facebook or Twitter, that's just a cop-out
For one I don't have twitter and I don't use FB both are like Days Of Our Lives. Even if I did most ebay problems CAN NOT be solve easily thru writing you need talk to a person on most problems.
Ebay is not the only company using Asian CS and I for one, along with most Americans, are sick/tired of it.
@abfabvintage I have tried it and have still gotten Asian CS, maybe it was because it was in the early AM. I think from now on I will try this.
Maybe if I pretend I'm a buyer with a problem, then maybe I'll get a US CS.....WE ALL KNOW EBAY CARES about buyers way more than sellers.

Agreed. I have tried those avenues as well, with the same poor results. Sure, it is more suitable for the hearing impaired, but there is still a language barrier. We all have the same horrible results getting real problems resolved. Those agents via FB and Twitter are the same ones on the phone.

I wonder if the ADA laws can be invoked in this situation?
12-11-2019 04:32 PM
It's a good question. Technically I believe they are in violation of Title IV of the ADA. They are required to provide teletype services or something along those lines, maybe because they provide Facebook and Twitter communication that passes the standard. I know ADA law, but not enough to really dive into that.
All it takes is an email to a politician, or contacting the ADA to file a complaint.

Don't worry, your not missing anything important that they're saying.

Hi @charlys.place - it sounds like the more common ways of contacting us by text have already been shared (Facebook and Twitter) but I also wanted to mention that you are always welcome to contact us using an IP-Relay or via TTY.
More information on IP-Relay:
IP-Relay is a government-funded service that enables those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired to use the telephone system to communicate with those who can hear. IP-Relay is accessed using a computer and the Internet, rather than a TTY (Text Telephone) and a telephone. So individuals who use IP-Relay do not need to invest in a TTY; they simply use the computer to communicate by text.
When conversing over IP-Relay, people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have difficulty speaking can participate in a conference call or go online while holding a conversation. Those initiating an IP-Relay call first contact an IP-Relay service provider over the Internet using their computer or other web-enabled device. An agent employed by the service provider receives the communication and then initiates a call via voice telephone to the telephone number the hearing or speech-impaired person is trying to reach. The agent then acts as an intermediary between the hearing or speech-impaired person and the person called to facilitate the conversation.
There are several IP-Relay service providers; a simple search on the Web reveals several alternatives. There are no additional costs to consumers for IP-Relay beyond a computer or other Web-capable device and an Internet connection. IP Relay service providers are compensated from the Interstate TRS Fund, which the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) oversees.
Thanks!

I tried this 3 times today at 4:30 pm est which is 5:30am in Asia and everytime I got a Asian CS. SO this solution does not work. And each time I got the callback in less than a minute, it was fast but still couldn't understand allot of what they say with their accent.
