Heads Up - Managed Paymt Fees Have Gone Up % Wise and Calculated on Total: Tax, Ship, Mdse

Hey there sellers in Ebay land,

I sell here and there on Ebay - used to do lots more but not motivated with all the changes that have gone on through the years. I know, I know - I do not need to tell you folks. The latest is, of course, the forced managed payments I had to join. I am writing to advise you very strongly to comb over your billing and payouts. I just got off the phone with Ebay after discovering they had overcharged me around $20.00 on just one transaction. They say they will correct. I will believe it when I see it - will take a few more agonizing phone calls first I feel certain. The call was informative though as I learned a lot in the process.

DID YOU KNOW THAT EBAY TAKES 15% Final Value Fee on Jewelry - Transactions are no longer a flat rate of 10%.  MOREOVER, EBAY TAKES THAT 15% FOR THEIR FINAL VALUE FEE INCLUDING THE TAX That is charged AND THE SHIP. I knew about eBay taking % of the ship which they shouldn't, but I had no idea that they profited on tax on the seller's end too. Unbelievable - It is true - Just got off the phone with them. So raise your prices to include all this pork accordingly. One has to price things too high to sell because of all the % Ebay charges on ship and tax as well as the merchandise. It adds up and accounts for why payouts have seemed light. Remember this when considering a Best Offer. I am going to go over my listings and adjust accordingly and probably just go to Buy It Now without offers. I figure most state taxes charge around 10% tax - therefore, I will add into my asking price 15% (ebay's % taken on tax on jewelry, for instance) of 10% of asking price (ballpark amount customer will pay in state tax). Is it complicated enough for you yet? Sure is for me.  This is not good for the buyers or sellers. Welcome to inflation and the world of never-ending surcharges. If you don't believe me, I encourage you to call ebay and learn all about how these charges work. There have no place in Seller's Hub which breaks this all down. Guess they don't want you to know about it and be able to see how each and every transaction breaks down w/ all credits and debits listed. Nowhere to see it all in 1 place on entire site. I asked! Go figure.

I found out about it by reading the information page about Managed Payments when I signed up.

no surprise there.

i stopped selled international when prices went from 6.50 on paypal to 20.00 to ship the same item on ebay.

sell an item for 12.99 plus 20.00 for shipping total 32.99 and ebay takes a final value fee off the  32.99.  plus the surcharge for selling internationally.

great way for ebay to lose international business for american sellers.

morons at the top really

some know obviously it was not made clear for many.

ebay needs to let sellers know things like this in an email in regards to THAT subject.

Simple Clean and to the point. x happened in the past, x will happen on this date.

Looking up the fees and details was about the first thing I did when I got my switchover date.   If I recall correctly, there was link to them in the email notifying me of my deadline.   They did seem to keep the information under wraps until I was actually "invited".    One of last things I would do is phone ebay.

And then we can get even more peeps coming to the forums complaining about all the spam emails they get from ebay.    There are announcements readily available all the time that should be read by everybody.

Does your city, county, state or federal government send you an email every time the law changes?

Oh boy! I am not selling  vinyl LPs or stereo equipment to my county state or federal government.  But I do read the local papers and news feeds to find out what changes are going on in my county/city.

Best of luck with MP I think it's stinks

a clearly worded email from ebay in regards to a change in payment date and type is clearly not spam. No mentally capable seller would consider it to be such.

I have yet to see any announcement that clearly points out the changes that occurred.

actually speaking to someone was the only time i received any clear information as to what the changes entailed.

ebay talking about invoices etc in March did not in any way explain that anchor store fees would be taken out of managed payments between the 17th and 20th, then the remainder taken from your bank account.

Nor did it explain that any email ebay sent telling you what amount  would be taken from your bank account in 3 days was not  accurate.

Simple clear precise when it comes to taking money is the best practice.

ebay once again failed in that regard.

seriously?

if anyone could wade through all that gabble to find that ebay would change the dates anchor store fees were taken they would have to be the next Einstein.

Or have nothing better to do.

Easier  to read the fine print for a credit card.

You mean .... actually TELL sellers?  Transparency?  But, isn't it more fun to sit back and watch the fireworks when sellers find out?
