I had 3 items bought from me yesterday. They are digital items that are only tracked through blockchain (online) I have sold many of these items in the last month or so. The problem with this buyer is that they only have 2 feedback and while both of them show as "positive" the actual feedback is negative. One feedback says "puke" and the other is actually a friend of mine who sells the same things I sell and the feedback is for an auction that says "buyer never paid" (that is my friend who I'm trying to get ahold of right now but he is probably still asleep right now..)
I know if I send these, the person is going to likely say they didn't receive it or not as described. I called ebay and of course the guy on the other end of the line is just trained to say "send it, everything will be cool" because they aren't the ones on the line. I requested a supervisor call me back and supposedly this is in process now. Anything else I can do to CYA?
Thx.

The question wasn't "do I know what I can and can't sell" The question was how to deal with the buyer. I need help w/ that. If there's no reply, I will simply cancel the sales

You have two choices, cancel and receive a defect, or send it, and take the chance that he will file a case.

Did they pay?

Yes. They are about to get their money back. 2 negative feedback only tells me I'm going to be #3. I think I know the answer to this question now. Thanks to poster #2 for helping my decision making process along 🙂

Keep in mind, that a low feedback buyer is no more a problem than a high feedback buyer. A scammer cannot be determined based solely on a feedback score. There has to be supportive evidence of a potential fraud, such as you see in this case when you examined what others had to say about the buyer.

What about a low feedback buyer with their only 2 feedback negative from the seller?

My post was intended to help you, as the link explains that you have no seller protection from an INR or a SNAD unless you meet eBay's criteria for selling electronically delivered goods. If you meet the criteria, fine. If you don't meet the criteria, you won't have any seller protection. I'm sure you're selling your digital content within those guidelines, right?
BTW, those feedback comments you described violate eBay's feedback policy. You wouldn't do that, would you? Even though you have a friend who does?
What reason are you going to use for cancelling the transaction? You have limited choices: the item is not longer available (lost or damaged or whatever); problem with buyer's address; buyer requested cancellation. As far as I can tell, your reason doesn't fall into any of those categories. I'm sure you're not willing to lie about the reason for cancellation, are you?
And sellers wonder why fewer and fewer people want to shop on eBay.

Digital GPKs ... I heard about those.
The bottom line is that any buyer can claim item not received because you don't have tracking and you're not shipping a physical product. You're taking that risk with every single sale of these cards regardless of a buyer's feedback.
Unless you're following eBay's digital goods policies then you have nothing in the way of seller protections, but canceling the sale will stick you with an out of stock defect. What's more costly to you - paying out on a potential claim or getting a big fat defect on your account?

Since based on a previous response you appear to know that your listing violates eBay policy for digitally delivered items, do you really think it's a good idea to raise this issue with an eBay customer service rep? The more you push, the more likely you will get caught.

Follow eBay policy. Then you would be covered by seller protection in case the buyer files an item not received if you have proper tracking showing delivered to the buyer's address.

What feedback buyer receives does not make it a valid reason for you to a cancel.
Your only choice for cancelling the sale is out of stock / damaged.
Anything else is policy violation.
Also, remember you do not receive refunds for the Paypal fees.

@davescollectables1978 was rote:
”What about a low feedback buyer with their only 2 feedback negative from the seller?“
As i mentioned in my post, a seller needs more than just a feedback score to uncover a scammer, and that in your case, you have info this buyer may not be on the up and up. I might hesitate in completing the sale, depending on several factors, like can i take the hit to my seller metrics? Or, how much is the sale and value of the item?
