Has anyone at all had a Bump in Sales or Happy since the Implementation of GTC?

Just a quick question for everyone out there.   Has anyone had an increase of Sales since the Implementation of GTC?   If you have seen a decrease please mention it here.

Cheers everyone!

I agree that we have a voice.  many respond that we do not. I believe that we do. I sell on 3 sites I have one store. I have taken down all of my listings for this month. I have not accepted any seller incentive offers since March 18. I have always been loyal to eBay. Selling on eBay has been a family project for years. We set a goal, I manage the listings and my sons and husband leave the house each morning with items to be shipped. We have a rhythm that is embedded in our routine of daily activities. I am a creature of habit and was never interested in learning a new selling platform.  I have begun listing on other sites. I plan to make an informed decision to come back or never return to eBay. As the days tick on I am getting further away from eBay and more inspired by other options.

Signing in to eBay every day has been a habit of mine since 2003 so I am having some withdrawal issues. I have never participated in the discussions before. for this month you are my only link as I slowly transition away form an old friend

@flo_mingo  I hope you don't mind but I'm copying a few of the eBay staff here, as your message speaks for many (including me on the Buying side).  If we didn't care we wouldn't be wasting time here at Community Boards reading and posting.

The one sentence in your statement that eBay should really pay attention to the most is:

"As the days tick on I am getting further away from eBay and more inspired by other options."

I can't tell you how true this is.  I just opened my first Amazon account last week and already made 6 purchases in 2 orders.   I've been a loyal eBay Customer since 2010 and never had an Amazon account until now.

My net selling cost (ebay fees + paypal fees) has went from 20%-21% to now 30%-32% since GTC has started. I will not be able to rotate new items in as much till I get down to the 1000 buy it now. I do wish ebay would let ended listings stay on board longer then 90 days.

My sales have dropped drastically! But the biggest problem I am having is two different items that were sold last month re-appeared in my active listings. I had to take a hit for a defect on the first one. Today I received an e-mail from ebay asking me to drop my price on the second one because someone had it in their cart. Without that message, I would have had another defect when I cancelled the order.

Moving to Amazon because you don't like Ebay's GTC listing format rather defies logic.  Amazon is 100% GTC.

My sales in April are down approximately 40% and I feel the primary reason is the new GTC policy.  Also If you posted any fixed price items on the first day of the new GTC policy you will have GTC posting automatically relisting in tomorrow and you may incur additional (unexpected) fees if you're not careful.  GTC represents a serious juggling acts for many sellers.  You need to first to look at how many "free postings" you have left then estimate how many items you may sell for the rest of the month, then look at how many GTC items will be relisting automatically during the rest of the month and how many of those you may like to end, then determine how many new items you'd like to post during the rest of the month and don't forget those items you have in your inventory that are approaching 90 days and will be lost if not relisted.   When Ebay realizes the April's invoice to sellers are down drastically due to sellers listing less, selling less, downsizing their stores and even leaving Ebay maybe it will finally get their attention.  They've got to start realizing the GTC was a huge mistake.

I am fed up with Ebay at this point. My sales are almost down to nothing so the 17 years of effort to build this business is going down the drain. Finally had a sale yesterday on a doll that I specifically stated I will not ship out of the country and someone from Poland buys it. So when I went to cancel the transaction I noticed that if the buyer does not agree I will have to pay the FVF. My listing states I do not ship out of the country ,what more can I say. Hopefully Ebay will stand behind me on this but I am not holding my breath. Everything is going downhill so fast here it is really unbelievable.

Hi Laura...yes, I agree, things have REALLY gone to pot around here, and I too am sick of all the hoops with have to jump through, and the ever-changing policy changes, which NEVER seem to benefit us, the small-time sellers...only the buyers, IF anyone at all...I mean, trying to get us to offer free shipping, and warranties that would rival ANY big-box store, plus free return-shipping if they don't like the item for pretty much ANY reason at all? ..What do they think we are, a WalMart, or something? ..Well, anyway, I've been on here for quite a long time, and coincidentally, TODAY, April 16th, happens to be my 19th anniversary on eBay, but, I think it's just about time to wrap things up;...I mean, SHEESH, I haven't had a single, solitary sale since March 17th, 30 days ago! No sales, and no commissions for eBay, either, nor PayPal. And, once I end my eBay Store subscription on the 30th, they'll not be getting THAT money from me, anymore, either!  Smiley Sad

My fees average about 600 a month,, this last month they were a little over 200.. I know I'm just a small fish with my 1000 listings but still I depend on this money. I'm just not sure Ebay considers the impact they are having on sellers...

Yes, things will Relist tomorrow.

Going to end a lot of things right now to avoid fees.

If they all relist, my lot for rest of month will be gone & there will be fees.

Our sales have been steady, but we have lost the motivation to list new items, so it's hard to tell what sales should be.

Listed a few at auction, Almost no activity. Auctions are just not what they once were.

I'm waiting to see how many sellers show up on the community in the next few days who did not know this GTC was coming.

Should be interesting.

First off, I thought it was "My Store!" Why aren't these changes being offered and not "no choice?"  The same with the new shipping page.  Now the buyers are telling us what shipping method they want!  I don't have a fed ex coming to my home every day.  I would have to make a trip to town just to mail it.  I had a buyer mad because I used USPS.  This isn't "my" store at all.

I AM ALSO RESEARCHING OTHER PLACES TO SELL FROM.  THEY ARE OUT FOR THEMSELVES, NOT US SELLERS.

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 17 yrs ago and unable to keep my nursing job.  This is my only income as well and Im a little seller.  I have constantly replied to Ebay begging them to stop the changes and to leave my pages alone.  Im very sad about it as I have enjoyed this to keep me busy.  I hate to leave but may have to.  All the best to my fellow ebay sellers/buyers.  Christine

My sales are also down.  I just don't understand how this is supposed to help sales anyway.  I have pleaded to them to PLEASE LEAVE MY PAGES, WHAT I PAY FOR, ALONE! Offer things to us, but don't just do it to us.  Its time to look elsewhere to sell online unfortunetly.  Very sad......

Just something I noticed, but it is probably affecting your sales... I looked at your listings, and you have a very cute shirt that I like and would want to buy!  ... except there are no measurements listed, so I have no idea whether it would fit me or not.  That is probably a turn-off to a lot of buyers who don't want to have to guess whether or not something will fit them, and most of them probably don't want to have to go to the trouble to message the seller asking for measurements either.  They will just hit the back button and go somewhere else.

I would try including the measurements for any clothing items you list and see if that makes a difference.  (I did watch the shirt, BTW, so I will be keeping it in mind for my next paycheck!)

I hate to say it but I DO sell on other sites and if you don't like things here you will probably HATE most of the others sites.  They are hardcore about shipping times and good feedback, charge high flat rate shipping, and a HUGE 25+% fvf.   They also usually limit what you can sell and don't pay you until the item shows delivered and the buyer leaves feedback.  Have fun with that!

My sales are down 41% in just the last month.  The real challenge I am having with GTC is when I list, I try to place my item in the price range of other sellers (no brainer, right?).  If I list an item that is trending a little high when I listed it, I cannot see the mistake. Thus, I do not make any adjustments and it just sits.  I tend to create errors in pricing when I am in a hurry or it is late at night.  I might list and price the item great only to realize when the item ended that I asked for shipping on top of that great price.  Yes, granted the errors are my fault.  But I cannot spend my time constantly adjusting and auditing my active listings.  If the listing with the error ends, I can quickly correct the error and sell the item.  Something seemingly simple like GTC, is a huge productivity killer.

See it this sounds familiar; cost of goods + shipping + shipping commission + listing fee + final value fee + Paypal fee + some ridiculously low profit margin and now the item sits...  When we do sell something, we pray we do not get scammed or have to absorb another shipping fee for a remorse return.  God help us if we make a legitimate mistake...  Bottom line; with GTC, I feel like we are racing each other to the bottom by building in a lower margin when we list the item (more than can be sustained) to ensure it does not sit.  I do not know how long it is reasonable for a product to sit but more than a month seems too long and a day seems too quick...

That is my two cents worth, good til canceled...

Happy Selling
