Re: Handling time

If someone buys it Thursday night before midnight you need to ship it before midnight on Friday with a 1-day handling time.

One day means one business day. IMO it should be shipped on Friday, but I'm not sure if that is Ebay's rule. It might depend on what time it was bought Thursday night.

I think if they pay Thursday night you would need to get it out on Friday. If they paid Friday morning, you would have til Monday.

Re: Handling time

Aren't we able to select what time our cut off is for shipping. I believe I have mine set.

I think it also depends on the sellers "Cut Off" time.

That can be changed through your seller account preferences.

My cut off is at 8:00 am, so anything that is bought by 8:00 am goes out in that days mail.

That's only for same day, not one day.

Re: Handling time

I'm not arguing that.

I am stating what I personally do as a seller.

That only applies to same day shipping.

OP---ebay goes by pacific time.  So if your item was paid for by midnight pacific time (3am, I believe, Eastern), then you are supposed to ship on Friday for 1 day handling.  Of course, if it goes out Saturday and arrives by the estimated delivery date, you are still okay.

Yes you are OK to mail on Saturday but you will not meet ebays 1 day handling requirements of having the item scanned before the following business day which in your case is before 12:00 AM PST (midnight)Saturday. Or in other words any time on Thursdays or Friday PST.

Do not mistake the meaning of the 2 words "shipped" and "scanned"  as ebay uses the word scanned.

Printing a label on Friday or dropping items in a drop box on Friday do not meet ebay requirement of having the item scanned.

Ebays definition is "Handling time on eBay is defined as the number of business days between when you receive payment and your package is scanned by your carrier."  Remember that weekend and holidays don't count as a business day, but ebay has repeatately messed that up by including holidays as 1 business day in error.

Also as brought up by fern*wood if you do ship Saturday or later and it arrives in time then there will be no impact to your late shipping score.

Re: Handling time

If it were me, I would get it out Friday so it leaves town. Otherwise it's leaving town sometime Monday (although some FEW post offices will scan Sat). There are really not that many things a buyer wants, but they do want their item to get moving towards them in timely manner. Unless it's simply not possible, my personal advice to build goodwill would be to get it out Friday, or have someone do it for you, or change your handling time. I have a 3 day handling time, but everything goes out withing 24 hours. I can't necessarily do it, but someone gets them out and scanned and it really matters to the people who bought it.
