Had it with Ebay - forced my account to enroll in Intl Shipping

I don't ship international.  All my Ebay policies I have had set FOR YEARS! - are set up to not ship international.

Today they messed with my account.

First, I had to log in about 5 consecutive times in a row, I mean after logging in, they sent me to...the same login screen again!  Multiple times.  I get several emails from ebay saying a new device logged in.  Its the same tablet I have used the last two years.

Its gonna be one of those days, I thought.

I did not see any warning or notification email from them saying they decided to enroll my account in Intl Shipping program.  So I had no idea they pulled this garbage move.

I go to create a draft item.

I see in the shipping area, where my default policies are, gee I appear to be shipping international despite no shipping policies or business policies set to do anything international.

So I go into my preferences right away and opt out.  They need to know a reason.  Good grief.

And now it takes up to 24 hours for the opt out to take effect.

THIS IS SO WRONG TO FORCE PEOPLE INTO THIS.  ALL MY SETTINGS WERE SET TO NOT SHIP INTERNATIONAL YET THEY OPT ME IN TO INTL SHIPPING AND DON'T EVEN TELL ME.

NOT A GOOD MOVE EBAY.  NOT GOOD.

They are referring to the buyer's shipping cost.  In some cases they are a lot more expensive than shipping directly.

It did before in GSP.  Reading all the EIS pages I see no where it says it's not charged, but I can easily find fee pages where it says it is charged if the buyer's address is outside the US.   @buyselljack2016   Can you link to me where it says it does not?  I despised GSP, and EIS reads like it's 100% identical just a new name.  Clearly I'd be happy if I was wrong.

It isn't charged in EIS. I just had an EIS sale and I was not charged the international fee.

Likely correct. As I posted that.........  buyer shipping cost would likely increase.

It would be a case by case situation as the poster (dbfolks166) was making his point about. Would depend upon the weight of the items. As was posted, and as we know 1st Class International shipping directly to the customer can go up to 4 pounds. Not going to happen with EIS as that shipping service will not be used by eBay, so buyer cost goes up.

Seller would have to ship a 2 pound item to the hub with Parcel, or Priority rather than direct shipping 1st Class International. Buyer will have higher shipping in that instance.

Can I ask why you don’t want to ship internationally? It’s very simple you charge regular shipping as you would in the United States. The item is shipped to Ebay headquarters and they take care of everything for you. It’s wonderful to have international shipping. Ebay does all the work for you and you get worldwide exposure. I’m not sure why you were so angry.

Because it's a nightmare at tax time for a real business. Ebay doesn't care if your taxes are impacted. Buddy of mine got a $20k tax bill for 4 years of selling on eBay internationally, trusting eBay to "handle it." Ebay is failing miserably and stealing users' money to trick investors.

     From a tax perspective there is no difference between domestic and international revenue. Have to know more about your buddy's taxes but this is NOT an international selling issue.

Ebay doesn't file taxes for ANY seller.  I'm not sure why anyone would be expecting that.

I've been selling here for well over 20 years.  Every one of those years I filed my taxes like I am responsible for doing.  

There is no where on Ebay that it states Ebay is responsible to file income taxes for a seller.

If your friend did not report their income to the IRS each year as they are suppose to do, then that sounds more likely as to what happened.  Each seller is responsible to file their own Federal Tax Returns and to claim their appropriate income.  Sounds like your friend didn't include income from selling internationally and I'm not aware of any such deduction available to any of us.

At some point in the future, we will be able to do that.  Ebay is well aware that this needs to be added to the program.

Just say no international sales-shipping in listing description, or if someone out of USA buys from you, just cancel it

There is no international fee on EIS shipments.  One of the nice perks.
