HELP PLEASE REGARDING NEGATIVE FEEDBACK POSTING

A couple years back I had a negative feedback removed from my seller feedback page because it was not allowed in the wordings of the feedback for the buyer to state anything like "Paypal had to step in & help" or "Ebay had to help resolve". Any feedback which was written that way or implied other actions by those actions was not allowed. I have this situation going right now & so can someone who is knowledgeable with this please let me know if this is still in place? I have searched thru pages and pages of policy without finding anything about it.

Thanks everyone who has answered. The very worst of this whole thing is that the buyer has 3 separate user ID's (likely MANY more) & I am a "newby" seller of the exact type same brand of items. This person is selling these items under 2 different id accounts/user names. I've received private emails telling me I basically shouldn't be competing with them (in a not very nice way) & threats to provide me with more neg feedback. It really gets tricky when the buyer uses different id's to buy .... how do you know who to trust? Of course those known have been blocked, but there will be more. I warned Ebay of this in many professionally written messages, advising my concern, and spoke to a feedback general this morning who basically shrugged that whole part off. I wanted to keep repeating it to her many times but she wouldn't even acknowledge that I'd told her this. I have all the saved messages in my Sent folder, but was told by the feedback general that she doesn't have the authority or access to be able to take a look at my messages of concern from weeks ago when this first began. I don't know what to do in this situation, except maybe reply to the horrible feedback given me (which truly isn't the truth of anything) ..... don't we as sellers all use stock photos for new items ?? But my reply to the feedback comment must be something not toooo nasty for all others to read & decide they may not want to deal with me as a seller. As an aside, after reading a lot of posts in this forum, I've learned that nothing can be done about this aspect of it all .... the buyer sent a different item as the "return", which is worthless. This was a 30.00 item from the outset. Good grief.

You're very welcome.

If you haven't already, you can block those buyer ids here:

https://pages.ebay.com/services/buyandsell/biddermanagement.html

If your messaging was through private emails, Ebay cannot read them.  You need to keep communication on Ebay.  That way, they can read the messages.

If you feel the need to correspond with them, you can copy and paste their message into Ebay messaging and respond that way.  Then there is a paper trail.

You can call Ebay and ask for Trust and Safety and report what is happening to you.  They can take note of the situation.  Ebay frowns on competitors doing this.

Re: HELP PLEASE REGARDING NEGATIVE FEEDBACK POSTING

Thank you castlemagicmemories. I've not sent messages through my private email address, only through the Ebay messaging system. The bidders relevant to this situation have been blocked. In fact 2 were blocked before this incident, but this person keeps creating more for my pleasure (!!!) … not.  Absolutely I will notify Trust & Safety … this is getting waaay too out of hand.

If the messages were through ebay messaging, then the ebay employees can see them.

Re: HELP PLEASE REGARDING NEGATIVE FEEDBACK POSTING

PM = Private Messages, but not to your personal email address.  On the threads you have the ability to send a PM to other members.  The link to this function is on the upper right side of any screen in the Forums.  It has a black envelope Icon.  Click on that and it takes you into the PM system.

Or you can click on the User name on any posting.  A blue box will pop up and give you a little information about that particular poster.  On the lower left side of that box it says Message.  You can click on that and send a PM to that member if you'd like.

If you start using this system, watch your upper right corner of the community screens so you know when a PM lands for you.  The envelope icon will turn red and it will have a number beside it.

This is Ebay's system, so know that as in any proprietary system, they can review these messages if they so choose to.  Usually with your permission, but it is not a requirement.

You're very welcome!  I'm glad the messages went through Ebay messaging, because they can read those messages.  Trust and Safety will take note that this is happening; they may advise you further and contact the offending parties.

I truly hope this solves this for you, and that you don't have to go through this any longer.  Please come back, if you care to, and let us know what happens as this plays out.  And the best of luck to you with this.

@mystevestack You mean through the contact a seller link, ebay messaging, and CS can read those messages.

Re: HELP PLEASE REGARDING NEGATIVE FEEDBACK POSTING

This particular listing used only MY OWN taken photos, not those belonging to any company or corporation, and are of the particular item. I do NOT understand how a negative feedback given in this case is relative. The buyer absolutely is NOT referring to the listing which she purchased. I didn't know negative feedback could be left when the buyer does not relate it to the item at hand, if this makes sense. Totally to me seems like it justifies removal.  That opinion is not because of my own negative received, I would say the same to any other Ebayer who had neg feedback left in this same manner. Does anyone know the true answer to this?

Actually, if memory serves, feedback is required to be for the specific transaction that it is left for.  Unless, of course, that has been changed.  Perhaps Trinton or one of the other blues can verify if that policy has, indeed, been changed.

Re: HELP PLEASE REGARDING NEGATIVE FEEDBACK POSTING

I'm assuming that the neg we are talking about is the one for the Scuba hoodie.  If I'm correct, I find it hard to believe that those are stock photos from the manufacturer's site. What clothing manufacturer would photograph the products spread out on a hardwood floor?  If the photos were used from another seller's listing, it would need to be determined if the images were taken from eBay's catalog scheme or not.  If they were taken from another seller's listing are they of the actual item listed by the OP?

Re: HELP PLEASE REGARDING NEGATIVE FEEDBACK POSTING

Not sure where you got the hardwood floor from, these were taken of the actual item, I don't have a hardwood floor. This item is used, not new.

Thank you fern*wood. That is exactly the area I was looking for. I knew I'd seen that previously but for the life of me couldn't locate it again. I'll ask.
