Hi Group,
Ihad a bogus return, eBay refunded the Buyer the 1600 purchase price, but I don't know what all this cost me. I paid shipping for two parcels to the Buyer, then the return, then an additional UPS fee. Ebay says that it refunded the buyer everything from "my funds," but I don't see where or how much.
? Am I out the shipping? It's about $250 at this point.
? What about the eBay commission I paid?
? Where can I find "my funds"?
I can't find any information on this. Any help will be appreciated!

You are out the shipping.
Did you accept a return and then refund or did eBay refund for you? If eBay refunded for you, then you are also out the fees.
Click on the Payments tab. It will show all incoming and outgoing funds.

Try looking at your financial summary and the return case details.

I appealed at every step. I even got to talk with a real Filipino twice!
I put "no refunds" on the posting. The buyer lied about shipping damage. I received the first parcel with no damage at all, then the second one a month later, also with no damage. There should be no refund.
The problem is that ebay only allows one parcel per sale, so only half of the shipping labels are in the system. Plus UPS imposed a surcharge on the last parcel.
I can't find any of this information. I sent the eBay AI machine my receipts for all the labels, but since I was ignored at every turn, I think that I am out. I just don't know how much.
For this transaction, I would have been further ahead just chopping up the item and sending it to the landfill. At 62, the emergency room bill for this stress will far exceed the proceeds of any future similar sale.

You got both items back, undamaged. Be very happy. Most sellers lose not only their money but the item. You are out shipping. On eBay no matter what they claim, everything can be returned and "No refunds" on your listings means nothing.

FYI, you can add multiple tracking numbers. I believe that 6 is the limit

A "No Returns" policy does not mean "No Refunds," because eBay's Money Back Guarantee for Buyers protects them against misrepresentation, damage, and non-receipt of goods. And, for better or worse, a decision in favor of the buyer is petty much automatic.
I looked at the listing in question, and you terms, which I quote, are in violation of eBay policy in more than one regard: "US sales only, FOB Deforest, Wisconsin unless you pay insurance. Let me know. European sales will require shipping at your cost, and I will insist on insurance. Paypal, Zelle, or Venmo only."
I am not trying to add to your grief. I am trying to tell you that you need to do your homework to learn the basics of selling on eBay before you find yourself in even worse trouble.

Thank you, Ms. Maxine.
"Your terms, which I quote, are in violation of eBay policy in more than one regard." I will look into this. Maybe eBay expects me to send musical instruments uninsured all over the world for people to try out and return to me. That's certainly not fair.
After twenty-six years, maybe I'm done with ebay.

Did you get the item back?
At that point if you do not personally and manually refund the buyer, eBay will do it for you, and then take their money from the bank account they normally put your payments in.
You are out the shipping charges and also, because eBay stepped in, you are not refunded your selling fees.
And because you did not personally and manually refund the buyer, eBay will give you a Defect on your selling account.
Defects can mean higher fees, restrictions on the number and value of your listings, and even if you get "too many" a closed selling account.
NO RETURNS DOES NOT MEAN NO REFUNDS.
It means you never want to see the item again. But you are still going to refund an unhappy customer.
When you are dealing with a customer complaint it is vital to stay on top of it.
And even if you think the claim is bogus, give eBay all the information they request, even information , like tracking numbers or Confirmation of Delivery, that they should already have.

Thank you, clemowbooks.
"When you are dealing with a customer complaint it is vital to stay on top of it." I did not hear from the customer - just a "damaged in shipping" claim through ebay.
eBay fees are already too high and communication is impossible. With this frustration, I will just consign the rest of my musical instruments. If I get 30% of FMV, I will be financially ahead and stay out of the hospital.

eBay does not care whether or not you buy insurance. Neither does your buyer. Insurance is to protect the seller.
Since you call attention to your former position in an "exclusive private high school," you may care to bone up on the The Perfect Tender Rule in the United States Uniform Commercial Code (UCC § 2-601), to see why sellers buy insurance.

It 's a bank issue where the buyer receives the refund usually in 2 weeks or less. eBay has to allow it to be processed and then refunded. The week-end holiday put a small delay in the transfer of funds.
Go into "payments"
"see all activity"
And the item should show up...click on it.
At the Botton of the item click "see fee details". plus it shows transaction breakdown.
I actually do it on my iPhone eBay App because it is so much quicker.

If you got both back undamaged, you're lucky.
All you're out is the shipping and Ebay fee's.

If YOU want it insured to protect your finances, YOU are the one responsible to insure it, NOT the buyer. That's all on the seller. It's your job to get the item to the buyer, undamaged. You would be wise to insure items that are expensive, IN CASE they get damaged in transit. The insurance is YOUR benefit, not the buyers.

Hi Ms. Maxine*J,
The UCC applies to merchants. I am not a merchant. That IS the entrance criteria for its application.
