Got Tracking Not Uploaded on Time Defect on a Local Pick-up Sale :(

Discovered I have a "Tracking not loaded on time" defect for a Local Pick-up Sale - I had the listing set for shipping and I also had the "Offer Local Pick-up" box checked - so it was either/or. I called Support today to get it removed and got transferred to a woman who supposedly is in the dept that could help me - She asked me if I was trying to appeal the defect - I said I guess so, and thats when I began hearing some of the most ridiculous things -

 

First I hear "Let me be straight with you - it is impossible for me to remove the defect" and basically starts her end of call "But thank You for using ebay" spiel - huh??! Did I just hear you right? Are you saying you are not going to remove a defect that was created due to ebay not having a policy on how to work a sale like this that can only end in a bad mark even though I did exactly what I was supposed to do?  I worked with the buyer through several emails, went out of my way to meet them and marked everything I could to represent it as a local pick-up sale -  I researched ebay policy on how to properly mark a Local Pick-up as delivered and there basically is none from what I could see ion their policy sections. I marked the item paid, marked it shipped and put a note in it saying it was a local pick-up. There is NOTHING else I could do. I also looked on the boards and found virtually the same instruction. So it was NOTHING I did or could have done differently. It is just another example of venue neglect or worse.

 

So next I get,  "Dont worry, this wont hurt your seller performance at all" - huh?? EVERYTHING hurts your seller performance, and if it doesnt hurt or help, then WHY have the metric?? Mind you I'm getting put on hold for lengthy periods while she gets this fine information for me...

 

After inquiring about what I should do in the future to eliminate this problem(and after another lengthy hold), she starts telling me something about contacting the buyer to get them to do something that would... - I cut her off before she could finish saying "Nooo no no, there is no way I will, or should be expected, to count on a buyer to jump through hoops to try to fix a problem that is unequivocally ebay's - this is something that ebay should already have a fix in place for - Seriously?!?

 

After making several attempts to get her to transfer me to someone who can help since, according to her, her department is not able to remove that kind of bad mark, now shes trying everything to get me off the phone and starts with the,  "I'm going to create a ticket for this situation but you wont know whats being done due to privacy standards" business...  huh? I realized I was wasting my time and decided to present the matter here in the hopes one of the Blues might offer some help and to get the information into a public forum so those who are having the same problem might find the proper resource - Help??

The tracking Upload on Time only applies to the Top Rated Seller requirements, TRS are allowed up to 5% late upload "dings" before any action MAY be taken.

 

You are not Top Rated on your id at the moment so this requirement doesn't even apply.

 

Tracking uploaded on time and validated (applies to eBay Top Rated Sellers only)

 

Transactions where you upload tracking details within your stated handling time, and the carrier scanned the shipping label either before or after your handling time.

Requirements

 

eBay Top Rated Sellers

 

Maximum percentage of transactions where tracking wasn't uploaded on time and/or validated

5%

Lookback period

3 months

I have never had this problem when doing a local pick up, and  I have also followed all the same protocols that you did including adding a note in all caps in the notes section of the transaction history. Have no idea why you got the ding. But I would not stress over it because one late shipping ding means nothing in the overall scheme of things. You would need many "Tracking Not Uploaded On Time" dings for this to possibly create any kind of a problem. FYI, the CS Rep was correct in that they CAN'T remove these particular defects. This was clearly stated some time last year by a BLUE in one of the Community Chats. They have no way of removing them.

Well as you see, I wouldn't count on having the method we used to work all the time, or any time for that matter given this situation. I can understand that they may not be willing able to remove a bad mark if it had been shipped, but this is so clearly an ebay snafu and not a problem I had any part in creating - I have NO DOUBT they could remove it with ease - I imagine they simply came up with that all encompassing statement about not being able to remove them so no one would even mess with it - I was not aware of that they made such a statement, though it would not have stopped me from calling given the circumstances. I now have 2 "tracking not uploaded on time" defects(1st was kinda my fault) and since I dont have that many sales, I now am 1 more away from falling out of above standard rating. I am actually very frustrated over their negligence in providing clear policy and their unwillingness to take responsibility for the problem they created for me and anyone else who finds themselves in the same boat.

I now have 2 "tracking not uploaded on time" defects(1st was kinda my fault) and since I dont have that many sales, I now am 1 more away from falling out of above standard rating.

 

Either you are talking about something else other than "tracking uploaded on time" or you are not understanding what I previously posted.

 

This metric is ONLY used for TRS, it does NOT affect Above Standard sellers at all.

It could be that I AM a TRS behind the scenes as I do qualify for the moniker, but I dont have the badge - I wondered about that - When I go to my dashboard and click on the "Tracking Uploaded and Validated on Time" it does show a metric there for me so I guess I am either a TRS or maybe its just another glitch - why not? it seems this site will glitch its way into history at some point.

 

But thats all beside the point - If I am not now, at some point I will become a TRS and this black mark could have an effect on me - And what about my next Local Pick-up sale? - How can I trust I wont get dinged again? Plain and simple, its the Principle - They SHOULD have a clear cut policy on this matter and they SHOULD Remove the ding THEY created for me regardless of whether it is affecting me or not. You cannot argue that Point and that IS the Point.

If you are going to do local pickup, and don't want it to count against you, don't offer any shipping method in the listing. If you have the listing set for local pickup only, with no other shipping specified, that transaction is not counted at all in your metrics.

Thats fine and dandy and its information most sellers know - Thing is, there is box you can check in the listing that allows you to offer either shipping or local pick-up - I am happy to offer both in my listings, or at least I was until I learned that ebay is OK with creating a problem for a customer and UNWILLING to do ANYTHING to fix the problem they created

I don’t think there’s a rating TRS behind the scenes. What does your dashboard say? TRS, above standard, standard, below standard?

It says I am in Top-Rated Seller Status right now - I suppose I met all the criteria for it after the 20th of March when I got my last monthly review and I wont get the Badge until the 2oth of next month?

 

I'm not sure, but I would like to request that someone call for a Blue that might be able to help with this matter, as it should be looked into and fixed(You know, fix the stuff that matters on the site rather than waste time and resource with new pages and layouts that don't matter, make sense, or help in the least) - I tried above, though Im not sure I'm doing it right. THANK YOU.

On this ID you are showing as a TRS, but the badge is only shown if you qualify for TRSplus---which you do not.  That requires free returns and it doesn't appear you offer that.

I see now it appears you are posting with two different IDs.  On this ID is doesn't show you as a TRS.
