Getting home from thrifting and thinking ... "why the bleeeep did I buy that"

Please make me feel better. Looking over what I bought yesterday (from a full day of thrifting) and wondering what was I thinking when I bought a couple of items. Must be mental fatigue after a long day results in diminished mental capacity (my mental faculties are already diminished on a daily basis, so can't afford any added drop). A shirt with marginal sell through rate and shoes with just too much sole wear. Been calling myself an idiot ever since.

That was nice of the checkout person to mention the chips. Even better that the buyer had a use for the chipped plates, instead of them just going to the landfill.

Gather up all your regrettable finds and list them as a mixed lot BIN or schedule an auction with a low starting bid. There's usually a buyer that must have "that one thing."  And you will be free until your next thrifting adventure lol.

She'd actually picked them out specifically because they were chipped! She said she preferred to use things that were already damaged so she wasn't wasting an otherwise perfectly good plate since keeping stuff out of the landfill was one of the reasons she'd started making the mosaics in the first place.

Every week when I'm marathon listing I come across a few items that I say to myself, "Nobody will ever buy this!"  and I list them anyway just to get them off the table.  And those are usually the items that sell right away!

Sending America's collectibles where they belong, one auction at a time!

When thrifting, you get the good, the bad, and the ugly.😄

Every single time. 😂 And then the ones you get that you think are going to sell right away end up being the ones that sit around for three years running.

At least you know "what" you bought. I have gotten home and wondered about the "what" part.

At least you know what "this" is. I often look at something and think I wish I knew what the heck "this" is so I could list it.

No need to berate yourself.  Make a serious vow to yourself to do better.  Then do better.  If it doesn't meet your higher standards for selling well, don't buy it.  You're not personally invested in it, after all.  You didn't make it nor anyone you know made it.

Sometimes, you just can't resist the call of a pickle castor.   I once sold one and the customer later returned and said they thought it was an antique nautical lamp.
