Getting home from thrifting and thinking ... "why the bleeeep did I buy that"

Please make me feel better. Looking over what I bought yesterday (from a full day of thrifting) and wondering what was I thinking when I bought a couple of items. Must be mental fatigue after a long day results in diminished mental capacity (my mental faculties are already diminished on a daily basis, so can't afford any added drop). A shirt with marginal sell through rate and shoes with just too much sole wear. Been calling myself an idiot ever since.

Donate them again. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Yes - and please get those boots out of the trash.

@wastingtime101  @chapeau-noir

I hear you, but these were OOAK, they looked like samples. Didn't even have a size marked.

These are things I should have noticed at the thrift shop.

We have all made mistakes, I would not let it bother you or second guess your mental capacity!

@adamcartwright

It's probably too late if you already threw out those boots, but If you put "one shoe only" into search, it brings up a lot of listings and a lot that are sold.  This could be for amputees or even crafting projects.

There are also national organizations that specialize in people who only need one shoe or who have mis-matched sized feet.

Nearly every time I buy something in bulk, it doesn't sell well.  If I only buy 1, it sells fast and I wish I had 10 more.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets home, unpacks stuff and sees things and go "how the heck did I miss that?"

I keep doing this too, darn it. Recently I bought 4 Arcoroc plates to use not to sell, (that's what I use for every day dishes). I was so excited about the price, that I snatched them up along with a few other things. Every single one of the plates was chipped. No one wants to eat off chipped glass plates. Darn it. Of course I threw them away, but why does someone sell this?

I was actually at a rummage sale several months ago and the woman in the checkout line in front of me had a big pile of plates that all had some chips. When the cashier made a comment about it, she explained that she makes mosaics so the chips didn't matter one bit as she was just going to smash the plates and use the pieces in her mosaics.

It happens. I once bought a celestial globe from 1780 for 2000$ and sat on it forever. Sold it 8 years later. Just list it and forget it. Hopefully it'll sell.

Oh but... Spending a fair amount of money on some machine that I think requires a few minor repairs...
An entire winter of working on it and about a thousand dollars worth of parts later...
It's worth about what I could sell it for, meaning there's no profit in it and that's if nobody tries to haggle me down on the price.
And that's "doing good."

As long as the good or even great purchases you have made outweigh the poor decisions, you are fine.  If you think you are still ahead of the game, don't worry about a few mistakes in judgement.  I have my share of things I wish I never bought.  Fortunately, they are mostly lots that I did not pay too much for.  Only made 1 big purchase that may haunt me.  2 years ago.  Still have 95% of the collection.  Never really tried to sell off much yet so it might work out.  What haunts me more is selling things too cheap because I NEEDED the money.  I try to remind myself they were not selling anyway.
