Getting charged for Buy it Now Reinsertion before the listings End

Check your relisting fees.  I have just ran out of my free 250 listings for the month, and Ebay is charging me relisting fees BEFORE my listings are ending.  I just found three 25 cent charges for items that don't end for 19 to 23 hours.  I was going to cancel the listings just before they expired to avoid the fees, and I am getting charged EVEN BEFORE THE LISTING ENDS!

Epay just has become to convoluted and complicated with constant changes and piling on more features, options, etc. leading to problems, glitches, and unhappy sellers like us. The great principle of K.I.S.S. has been thrown out long ago!   Thanks much islandgirl for that info!!

If the customer service response or answer they gave you is correct and fees will not be credited until September, my question is how are they going to handle people like me who have PAID upfront with a store and have lost listings off of our paid allotment? how are we going to get back our listings? as it stands now I am owed 22 listings.

As painful as it is to call customer service, I would.  Whatever compensation they offer you, be sure to ask for a reference number.

Re: Getting charged for Buy it Now Reinsertion before the listings End

I dont think in any way is CS going to offer compensation or a reference number. ebay is still figuring out how to handle it. Credits can not show for awhile due to the way billing is handled. This is nothing new.

I am sure shortly as with almost all errors ebay will be offering some free listings. Does anyone have patience here? I dont think its even been 48 hours yet. chill. Make some listings and put in your drafts if you dont want to list until you think its all fixed and "perfect" for you. Things like this happen sometimes here.  Always have and always will. Its called programming errors.

Re: Getting charged for Buy it Now Reinsertion before the listings End

Time is money and ebay does not compensate us for our time when we call.

I am questioning the value eBay brings to the table versus the costs -

Costs being not only the fee's, but the processes that are not intuitive and the stress just trying to do something that was once simple has become.

It is a crying shame, and knowing they do not care does make it a little easier deal with, for some strange reason.

Knowing people are profiting handsomely for creating this chaos eliminates knowing they don't care......

Re: Getting charged for Buy it Now Reinsertion before the listings End

Sorry but I have lost all faith in CS ---in fact I have come to the conclusion after being on the phone for about 2 hours with 3 different CS Reps & 1 Supervisor in 2 different countries who had NO CLUE what I was talking about & 1 CS kept insisting over & over that she could show me that I or Ebay had used 17 of my monthly 50 free listings when I kept telling her over & over to just look at my active listings & see for herself that NOTHING had been listed or relisted on 8-1 by me or Ebay. In fact it became obvious to me that she did not know how to go look at my active listings. Concerning credit for the 11 listings that I was charged for on listings that had not even ended yet & had 14 to 18 hours left---1 CS told me I would get credit on next invoice another CS & 1 supervisor told me they were doing credit right then & there while I was on the phone with them---RESULT---NO CREDIT----------Last but not least Ebay please be aware that when i ask for a supervisor your people keep me on hold forever while checking every couple minutes to see if I am still there & then eventually they hang up----this has happened more than once----As far as I am concerned THERE IS NO CS---So tell me who do I go to when I have a legit problem---This is the main reason that when ---MANAGED PAYMENTS--- becomes mandatory I will say bye-bye even though I DO NOT WANT TO but I cant imagine chasing my money with your current CS set-up

Thanks for the tag @dtexley3 - I'm having this reviewed as a potential technical issue.

Thanks!

Thanks for your patience while I waited for more information everyone.

There was a technical issue that impacted some members this week, specifically:

Some Good Til Cancelled listings which renewed early in July (July 1 & July 2 as an example) were charged a 2nd insertion fee after 30 days passed instead of renewing the following month as they should have.

The appropriate teams are aware of the issue, have identified the cause and corrected it. Additionally they are currently working to identify and credit listings that were double charged incorrectly in July.

Moving forward this will not occur as we finalize the transition from 30 day renewals to monthly renewals. Thanks!

Tyler,

Thanks for the update, Tyler.

Why was there never an official announcement about this? How many different threads about an issue would it take to warrant an announcement?

Re: Getting charged for Buy it Now Reinsertion before the listings End

I believe ebay does compensate. We get free listings quite often. I want to be negative sometimes with all the changes but honestly ebay has had my back with issues.

I do agree you should detach and not get your feelings involved. Its a business. If its not a value in your life then move on... just like with people.

It is a crying shame, that with all the technology at mankind's disposal, E-Bay can't offer a GTC listing, or a 30-day listing, whichever the seller thinks works best for their business.

I mean, technology would be a wonderful thing, if only there was some one to offer more than one choice!!!  Dare I dream of the day we have the tech to do that!

Re: Getting charged for Buy it Now Reinsertion before the listings End

They should make an OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT that if you were actually CHARGED Listing FEES you will get the money back BUT if YOUR LISTINGS WERE TAKEN from YOUR STORE ALLOTMENT  you get nothing! They are gone, no compensation for the people who pay for stores!

Re: Getting charged for Buy it Now Reinsertion before the listings End

I ended listings this evening (8/2) that were scheduled to end tomorrow morning (8/3). After I ended all of them I was thinking about relisting a few. I just happened to noticed that of my 250 Fixed Price listings that I pay for with my Store Subscription, 2 have already been used. I immediately went to the forums to see if this was another eBay issue and found out that it most certainly is. I wasted my time calling in to customer service. I was told that the tech team is aware of the glitch and is working to fix it. I was also told that if I go over my 250 Fixed Price listings for the month I can call in to get a refund. What a crock of @#$%. This GTC disaster is only getting worse. Any way eBay can screw us they will do so. I agree with many others on here that it is time to get lawyers involved. Class Action style.

Re: Getting charged for Buy it Now Reinsertion before the listings End

What they are doing has to be highly illegal. I see it as a version of bait & switch. They bait you with the free listings, then when you technically don't have any control when it ends and without your permission, they relist them and get all those fees. I know they say you can end them early but technically you have no control over that because you may not be able to get to them in time, for whatever reason, then they relist them without your permission and get all those fees. At the very least it is very deceptive business practices and they need to be called out on it.
