I am wondering if it is better to manually end my listings for better placement or is it better to leave them on and they move up? Not really sure how the benefit the seller....

Well according to you all and ebay staff that sells its better to end all your listings and repost them every few months! Thanks everyone for your input:)

My own experience is that GTC has provided me as a seller absolutely no benefits and in fact has been detrimental when I forget to end a listing whose time has come. I usually end small lower priced items manually and then relist later depending on how many free listings remain on my account. I often find an item sells relisting after a month or so of a pause. The items remain on the unsold list for 60 days for easy relisting and editing.

I use Inkfrog. They have a widget that ends all of my listing BEFORE they relist. I then can relist when I want to.
I would NEVER just let my listing run on and on and on and on and on.........

Thank you. Yes I can see how forgetting to end listings that put you over the "free listing" number can cost but I was really wondering if it made any difference in the placement of your listing on ebay or people finding your ads. Is it better to relist and be a "new" listing or not.

Thank you for your answer. I was wondering why you would never let your listing go on and on. Is there a reason behind it? Im wondering if it is better as a seller to relist every month as a new listing or to allow your listings to remain on as they could be in peoples carts or does the listings placement on ebay move up or down using one or the other....

my sales on items that have rolled over in the GTC cycle have been pretty limited (though I have had some), so I have started ending listings (when i catch them in time) and then deciding which ones are worth relisting. i pretty sure i've had more sales from relisting (and showing in search results as a "new listing") than i have from letting them rollover. i'm definitely not a fan of the automatic rollover as i just haven't seen much benefit from it regarding sales.

@goldngals IMO if you just let the items roll over they will fall to the bottom of the list. When I use sell similiar it produces a new item number and "should" act like a new listing thus "hopefully" .

I manually delete listings with the end being 1-3 days to go.
I then use the Sell Similar option. I change my title a bit and do a quick review of the listing for errors or any needed updates and then it's listed for another 28 days or so. After a couple times around the block, I delete the listing, put the item in my backroom (the first stage for the trip to the dump) and move on. I don't like items sitting in my listings for more than 90 days.

I also end and sell similar but with a twist. If there are any watchers, I let it roll over after I have changed some things like price. Ebay will notify these watchers that a price change has been made even if it's only a penny.
That sometimes reminds them that they were interested. Better than sending out offers.
